WE WELCOME INTO OUR PARISH FAMILY
THROUGH THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM:
Anna Marie Schibley
May the grace of God she received at her rebirth remain
with her always and may she grow in the love and
friendship of our loving Father.
Saint Gabriel
Memorial Fund
It is customary and fitting to remember loved ones
who have died with memorial donations to a favorite cause
or charity. In this way, the memory of the deceased is
honored and a good work, either civic or religious, is
perpetuated. There are numerous charities that have been
traditionally designated for such purpose.
Memorial donations to the St. Gabriel Memorial
Fund would be used for the betterment of our St. Gabriel
Parish, as the needs present itself, or as determined by our
Pastor.
Would you consider the St. Gabriel Memorial
Fund as a worthy recipient of memorial donations at the
time of a loved one’s death?
We are grateful to the following who have donated to the
Memorial Fund in loving memory of:
Virginia Murphy
Lorraine & Chandler Wells Mary Long
Sam & MaryAnn Parlapiano Marianne Westcott
Mike & Phyllis Luckey Lynn & Carol Dittmar
Patricia & Robert Galler Claire & Bill Spitler
The Vagnini Family Kyoko Shemanskis
Keiko Tsushima Anne Kelley
Dan and Jacki Miller & Family
John “Jack” Fernandes
Patricia & Tom Tomkunas Mary Long Tax Saving News
(Shared by a Fellow Parishioner)
Congress usually waits until December to revive
some tax-saving provisions that expired at the end of the
previous December. One of these allows taxpayers who are
70 1/2 or older to transfer up to $100,000 directly from
their IRA’s (individual retirement accounts) to charitable
organizations. The transfer counts as your RMD (required
minimum distribution) and isn’t included in your AGI
(adjusted gross income). Reducing your AGI could help
you avoid taxes on your Social Security benefits and stay
below the cutoff for the Medicare high-income surcharge.
Though this provision is still in limbo for 2015, you
may want to consider this as an option for your next annual
giving to St. Gabriel Church. It has worked for the past
several years and has been retroactive for all direct
charitable contributions made from an IRA for the entire
year.
Rather than transferring your gift directly to a
charity, if you take your RMD and donate part or all to
Charity, you have to first report the full RMD as income,
then deduct your contribution if you itemize deductions.
As always, consult your tax advisor for the latest,
most accurate information.
Please find the “Little White Books” for your
daily readings at the doorways of the Church offered by our Adult Ed. Committee.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
BAKE SALE RAFFLE
Our Youth Group & Confirmation 1 Students
will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast, Bake Sale & Spring Clean Up Raffle on Sunday, May 1.
The Bake Sale will also be after the 4:00pm Vigil Mass on
Saturday, April 30. 100 % of the proceeds will be
contributed to the Station Fire Memorial Fund through the Rhode Island State Council of Churches to help build a
permanent memorial in memory of the 100 people who lost their lives in this tragic fire 13 years ago.
Through our donation, our Church will receive a brick in
the Commemorative Walkway part of the Memorial, which will be dedicated this Fall.
We are looking for volunteers to bake for the bake sale.
To Volunteer and for information please contact Jody Denno @ 860.688.6141, or email
We hope to see everyone there to share in this very special event of fellowship!
The students at St. Gabriel School have had
a very meaningful Lenten journey. They experienced the Stations of the Cross
weekly, either through a PowerPoint or the 7th grade doing a live version. The students participated in
the Rice Bowl program collecting money for Catholic Relief
Services. We ended the program on Holy Thursday with a prayer service including a procession of students placing
their Rice Bowls before the cross. A total of $895 was collected. To end our journey before Good Friday, the
Student Council prepared an Easter Egg Hunt that the younger students in grades Pre-K to 2 enjoyed. The
students & staff of St. Gabriel School wish our Parish
Family enjoys the joy & new life that the Easter Season brings to all of us. (Mrs. Patricia Martin, Principal)
