SUNDAY COLLECTION
April 29, 2018
Next Sunday, May 13, at the 12:00Noon Mass, we
will say thank you and farewell to Sister Denise Marie
for her twenty-five years of faithful and loving service to
the parishioners of St Charles. All of us look a little older
than we did in 1994--when Sister Denise first joined us. All of us,
that is, except Sister Denise! She hasn’t changed a bit! Sister is as
active and as energetic as her first day “on the job.” We will all
miss her kind and caring ways and her thoughtful concern for
others. The leadership of the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland has
directed that Sister Denise conclude her time at St Charles and
move to the Motherhouse in Pepper Pike. There Sister will assume a
new ministry in service to the Ursuline community. We all wish
“it wasn’t so.” Following next Sunday’s Mass, there will be
reception, in Sister’s honor, in the Corrigan Gym.
This is “Donut Sunday,” thanks to Parish Council and our
newly-formed Hospitality Committee. You are invited, after
Sunday’s 8:00 and 10:00am Masses, to visit the Lower Parish Hall
for some refreshments and time together. With our “new” Mass
schedule—now almost a year old—we have the opportunity for
some “after Mass” activities and we still have time to exit the
parking lot before the next Mass.
It’s not too soon to think about summer activities. Our
Religious Education Office is pulling together all the details for this
summer’s Summer Bible Fun. The dates are Monday through
Friday, June 25 to 29, 9:00am to 12:00Noon. Children in Grades
One Thru Five are welcome. This year’s program is The Mass
Comes Alive. For more information, or to register, call the
Religious Education Office at 440-886-5668.
We have offered Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 10:00am
Sunday Mass since the beginning of Lent. The kids seem to enjoy
the experience (and so do the parents!) We indicated that if it
proved popular, we would continue the program. So CLW will be
offered through the month of May, take a summer vacation, and
then start up again in September. Thanks to all who make this such
a special time for those who have not yet received First
Communion.
Next Sunday, May 13, is Mother’s Day. You are encouraged to
enroll your mom—whether living or deceased--in our Mothers’
Confraternity. The 10:00am Mother’s Day Mass will be offered for
our mothers’ intentions. In addition, throughout the year, a
monthly Mass will be offered for all moms enrolled. Stop by the
Parish Office.
Our Director of Adult Faith Formation, Brian Pelcin, is at it
again! Now he’s starting a Summer Book Program focusing on
“The Power of Pause—Becoming More by Doing Less.” If inter-
ested, please let Brian know by May 15. I also hear Brian plans a
“Breakfast Study Group” that will preview and discuss the upcom-
ing weekend Scripture readings. More information in this bulletin.
All that applause you heard on Friday and Saturday came from
the Corrigan Gym. St Charles School’s “Not Ready for Prime
Time” Drama Club presented their stage production of Charles
Dickens’ great novel “Oliver Twist.” There were three perfor-
mances, each to a “full house.” Congratulations to all: actors,
actresses, musicians, sound effects, stage hands, and technical crew
for a job very well done. Many thanks, as well, to the day school
faculty members who made it happen: Carey Perkins, Amy
Kwiatkowski, and Amy Gerity. Lookout Broadway, here they come!
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Sunday 10:00am Mass This program invites children ages 4 to 7 to
experience the Word of God at their level
with an age-appropriate Scripture lesson
taught during the Liturgy of the Word.
Following the lesson, which takes place in the
newly renovated Church basement, children
rejoin their families at Mass.
FOR MOM ON MOTHER’S DAY Looking for the perfect way to remember
Mom on Mother’s Day? Enroll your Mom,
living or deceased, in St Charles Mothers'
Memorial Confraternity. All Moms will be
remembered at the 10:00am Mass on
Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13th. Moms
will also be remembered at a Mothers' Memorial
Confraternity Mass to be offered once-per-month June 2018
to Apri1 2019. Pick up a Confraternity card from the Parish
Office after Mass today. Your free-will offering will be
gratefully accepted.

Rosary a day for one week and then she will

family. There is information about this
devotion in the visit request form in the
carousels in the church's lobbies and the parish office. To
have her come to your home for a week all you need do is
