Stewardship When the Son of Man comes in glory, may we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God’s blessing and inherit the kingdom.

Share in the Care Almost 33,000 women religious and more than 5,500 men religious are past age 70. Though they may with-draw from compensated, full time ministry, religious con-tinue to visit the sick, tutor children, and volun-teer among refugee populations. Religious insti-tutes must provide for their own retirement and health care costs. The December envelope packet contains an envelope for The Religious Retirement Fund. Envelopes can be found in the back of the Church for those who do not receive the monthly mailing. Please be generous in your support.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE The Giving Tree Continuing the long tradition of sharing the spirit and hope of the holiday season, the people of Saint Cecilia Parish will celebrate Advent with a GIVING TREE. Look for suggested items and instructions in next week’s bulletin. The Generations of Faith Program needs a large number of volunteers to make it successful. Those in our parish and the community who are ill.

Please remember in your prayers: FR. ARNOLD DEARING, the first Franciscan Friar to serve at Saint Cecilia Parish (1977-1982) Fr. Ar-nold died Tuesday, November 15, in New Albany, Indiana. Pray that God will bless the Church with more great priests.

34th Sunday of Ordinary Time A man once told me that once a month he goes to the Veterans Hospital and visits patients. He began the practice 40 years ago when he was discharged from the ser-vice. His friend had carried him to safety when he was wounded in battle. He wanted to honor his friend by reaching out to other veterans in need. He called it

his living tribute of thanks. In the Gospel, Jesus portrays the Son of Man as He judges all people. His judgment is not based on what sins we committed, but on what good we omitted. What we know now as the Works of Mercy are the ways in which we offer to God a 'living tribute of thanks' as we serve Him in each other. We honor the sacrifice of Christ the King by how well we treat and respect those who are His brothers and sisters. He comes not to find our faults, but to find our good-

ness, seen in our willingness to love each other. The end of one Church Year is the beginning of the next. Resolve now to offer your tribute of thanks. Do something for others, with no expectation of anything in return. Feed the hungry, bury the dead, visit the sick, and counsel the doubtful. The only thing we can truly offer to God that He does not already have is the time and effort we spend to imitate His love for us. Our actions cry out, "Hail to the King!"
