PASTOR’S CORNER

This weekend at all the Masses, we bless all who are involved in the Catechetical Ministry. They include those in the school; PSR; Catechesis of the Good Shepherd; Youth Ministry; Adult Faith Formation; Children’s Liturgy of the Word; Sacramental Preparation; Alpha, Faith Life; Walking with Purpose; and That Man Is You. We are most grateful for all your efforts in teaching and sharing the Faith with people of all generations. May God’s grace guide and sustain you in these vitally important ministries.

I would once again like to express my appreciation to Mike Lotz our Festival Chair; Troy Herron, Co-Chair; the members of the Festival Committee and all the Festival Workers for all the hard work that went into making our 2018 Parish Festival a success.Wedidnotallowtheweathertokeepusdown.Notsurprisingly,ourprofitwaslowerthanlastyear.Our2018NetProfitis$32,865.08.In2017,itwas$44,423.70.CopiesofadetailedReportareavailableonthetableundertheBulletinBoardin the Gathering Space.

As I write this, I am particularly mindful of those who are dealing with Hurricane Florence. By the time you read this, the storm will have made landfall. We remember our brothers and sisters in our prayers. We also wait to hear about participating in efforts to bring relief to those in need.

WALKING WITH PURPOSEThe Walking with Purpose parish program at St. Cecilia is introducing a new session this fall: Opening Your Heart. This foundational, 22-week Bible Study is designed for women who are new to WWP as well as those with more Bible Study experience. We welcome past participants and invite new women to join us! In addition to Opening Your Heart, St. Cecilia will also offer Touching the Divine, a study of the Book of John.Walking with Purpose is a Catholic Bible Study that aims to bring women to a deeper, personal relationship with Christ through personal study and small group discussions that link our everyday challenges with solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. We will meet Thursdays in the morning and evening beginning September 20th. Sign-ups will be available after all the Masses this weekend. For more information go to www.walkingwithpurpose.com or contact Sharon Reinhard at [email protected]. We hope to see you.

CATHOLIC APPETIZERSCatholic Appetizers will meet again on Tuesday, September 18th at Ann & Tony’s in West Jefferson for another casual get together. Our discussion will center around the recent news revolving around the Pennsylvania Attorney General report and the newly published letter from Archbishop Vigano, both in regards to the ongoing scandal of sexual abuse. This very sensitive subject has touched so many lives in negative ways, but it is important to remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 16:18, “And I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” Let us gather as members of our Church in our part of the world and strengthen our faith against that netherworld. If you are not familiar with Catholic Appetizers, here are some basics: we gather, chat about our faith, and eat!! The discussion begins around 6:00 p.m. in the private room at Ann & Tony’s and because the private room is limited in space, an RSVP will be appreciated no later than Monday, September 17 to Susan Baker at 614-327-7558 or [email protected] join us!!
