REFLECTION
In our daily lives, we manage our family and work
responsibilities. But to become occupied with these important
matters to the exclusion of the need of others outside our
home or work, is a mistake we could carry into eternity.
LEAVE A LEGACY:
You make a significant gift to our parish that costs you nothing during your lifetime.
Consider including our parish in your will.

PARISH NEWS
DSA 2017 DIOCESAN SUPPORT APPEAL (DSA)
We have reached our Goal ($24,484.00) for the Diocesan Support Appeal
(DSA). Thank you to all our parishioners for your generosity in caring for
our Parish and the Diocesan Church!
Among the people helped by our contributions to the DSA are the
Elderly/Poor, our Youth, Families in need and our brothers and sisters
participating in various Multi-Cultural Activities.
Again, thank you! Father Duc.
ALLERGY/FLU SEASON
It is allergy/flu season again. If you have had it, please share your act of charity
and kindness by NOT receiving the cup of the Precious Blood of Christ. The
Church teaches us that if we receive just the Body or Blood of Christ, we receive
the whole Christ. Thank you for understanding.
THE PARISH OFFICE will be closed on Monday January 1st 2018 for the New Year 2018.
SOLEMNITY OF THE VIRGIN MARY: Monday, January 1st we celebrate the Solemnity of
the Virgin Mary. Mass will be at 12:15 pm. This is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Do I display the attributes in today’s readings when relating to my
own family? As we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, do I show
these qualities in my relations with friends, coworkers, strangers?

IN LOVING MEMORY
Bishop Emeritus William G. Curlin
1927 – 2017
CHARLOTTE – The Most Reverend William G. Curlin, Bishop Emeritus
of the Diocese of Charlotte, died on Dec. 23, 2017, at Carolinas Medical
Center of cancer. He was 90 years old.
Bishop Curlin was the third Bishop of the Diocese of Charlotte, serving
from 1994 until his retirement in 2002.
Champion of the poor, comforter of the sick and the dying, friend of St. Teresa of Calcutta,
Bishop Curlin preached the love of Jesus Christ during more than 60 years of priestly ministry,
first in the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and the past 23 years in the Charlotte diocese. His
lifelong commitment to Christ and His Church was epitomized by his episcopal motto “Sentire
Cum Christo” (“To Think With Christ”).
The reception of the body and a vigil prayer service will take place at St. Gabriel Church, 3016
Providence Road in Charlotte, at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1. The Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, also at St. Gabriel Church. Following the funeral Mass,
Bishop Curlin will be buried at Belmont Abbey in Belmont.
