My Dear Parishioners,
As always, summer moves so quickly, doesn't it? It seemed that way more than ever here at St. Bede's when, after our Pa-dre Pio Festival and Patriotic Concert were finished, it felt like summer is half-over. So it's not too soon to begin to think about and plan for our 11th Annual Parish Pic-
nic, which this year will be held on Sunday September 18 on our Parish Grounds. As in the past, this Parish Picnic is a truly community event, where along with good food, plenty of musical entertainment and lots of activities for children and adults of all ages, we all have a last opportunity to say goodbye to the summer, and get ready for a long, busy year. As you know, in the past, we have been able to keep the admission price for our picnic at a very affordable price. This has been possible through the sale of 400 Raffle Tick-ets for the $10,000 give-away prize. The proceeds from the Raffle actually subsidize 50% of all our Parish Picnic ex-penses! Unfortunately, in the past few years, we have not been able to sell all 400 tickets. And last year, for whatever rea-son, was especially low, with 30 tickets left unsold. The Picnic Committee, chaired by Cas Ilenda, has de-cided to keep admission tickets at the same price. However, to offset whatever shortfall could arise in this year's Raffle Ticket sales, the committee has decided to proactively seek the sponsorship of families, businesses, and other institu-tions, whose financial support of our picnic will be acknowl-edged by signage posted at the site of each event or a part of the picnic which they have chosen to sponsor. While there are many levels of sponsorship to meet vari-ous budgets, we are particularly seeking one or two major donors, who would be designated as "Official Proud Spon-sors of the 11th Annual St. Bede Parish Picnic." The St. Bede Parish Picnic has become an event that the community has come to really enjoy, and it is our hope that the commu-nity will come to its support and help the picnic to achieve all of its goals. The 2016 Parish Picnic will have a slightly different look to it, but certainly an exciting one, with the addition of a 50's and 60's live Rock 'n Roll band, as well as a special Karaoke contest. So set your calendar for Sunday September 18, and plan on bringing your family to join with the "big family" of St. Bede's as we celebrate this event that no one should miss! May God Bless You,

Remember The Deceased David Evans
We are united in prayer with their families and with one another as we and all the faithful departed await our rising with the Lord.
Welcome Our New Parishioners James & Chris Grbas family James & Helen Capasso, Jr.
New parishioners can register by seeing one of our priests after Sunday Mass.
Scripture Readings Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time August 7, 2016 Wisdom 18: 6-9 Psalm 33 Hebrews 11: 1-2, 8-19 or 11: 1-2, 8-12 Luke 12: 32-48 or 12: 35-40 Our readings sound like they belong in Advent. The book of Wisdom praises those Jewish ancestors who had been waiting faithfully, and Jesus uses a parable to praise those who are ready for the Master’s coming. Indeed, why should we prepare ourselves for the end times only during Advent season? The point of the Gospel is that we should always be ready for God’s coming. What have you done lately to pre-pare?

Take Care In the Heat Dear St. Bede’s Family,
What a summer!!! Sure has been a hot, humid one! Just a reminder how to deal with these hot days. Heat exhaustion starts slowly, but if not quickly treated can progress to heatstroke. In heatstroke a person’s temperature reaches 105 degrees F or higher. Heatstroke is a medical emer-gency and can be fatal. Signs and Symptoms:
HEAT EXHAUSTION
SEEK EMERGENCY HELP IMMEDIATELY FOR SYMPTOMS OF HEATSTROKE
In cases of heat exhaustion or while waiting help for possible heat stroke: - Bring the person indoors or into the shade immediately - Undress or loosen clothing - Have the person lie down, elevate feet slightly - If the person is alert, place in a cool bath water. If outside spray with mist from a garden hose. - If the person is alert and coherent , give frequent sips of cool, clear fluids. - If the person is vomiting, turn onto his or her side to prevent choking.
THINK PREVENTION Drink plenty of fluids before and during activities in hot sunny weather- even if you aren’t thirsty. Wear light colored, loose clothing in warm weather. Don’t participate in heavy activity outdoors during the hot-test hours of the day. Come indoors immediately whenever you feel overheated.
REMEMBER Check on young children and the elderly as well as animals. Never leave children, the elderly or animals in the car alone. Be safe and enjoy the rest of the summer! Source: St. John Providence Community Health God Bless! Kris Ingle Parish Nurse
