My Dear Parishioners,
Today, Sunday October 13, Fr. O’Donald and I, along with 32 fellow pilgrims, depart for an 11-day pilgrimage to Italy. Our pilgrimage begins where we land, in Rome. There our group will tour the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, and will celebrate Mass in one of the crypts where several Popes, including St. John Paul II, are buried. Holy Mass will be celebrated the next day in the Basilica of St. Paul, outside the walls of Rome, where the great
evangelist St. Paul was martyred. The usual sights in Rome like the Coliseum, the Forum, and the Major Basilicas will also be toured. The pilgrimage then moves north, where over the course of the next two days we visit Assisi, the home of the great St. Francis. While in Assisi, we will take a side-trip to visit the famous sites of Orvieto and Lanciano, where a priest centuries ago, who had doubts about the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, witnessed the host turn into Flesh, and the wine into Blood. From there the group heads south, where we drive towards the real high point of our pilgrimage, and that is to the region of Puglia. There we will arrive at San Giovanni Rotondo, the little town where the monastery home of St. Padre Pio becomes the center of our stay. Here we will walk through the monastery and see his bedroom, as well as the chapel where he celebrated Mass and received the Stigmata. It will be our honor to celebrate Mass and drop our intentions right by his tomb, where we will be able to view his body. During our days in Puglia, we will also visit Pietrelcina, where Padre Pio was born, and Benevento, where he was ordained, as well as the Shrine of St. Michael the Archangel, where he often visited and prayed. Before we head back to Rome for our return to the USA, we will have a chance to visit the famous Abbey of Montecassino. As I did during last year’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land, I plan on sending back to the Parish Office in the care of Pat McNally our Communications Director, photos and videos that I will take along the way. Several people enjoyed following our pilgrimage last year via accessing our Parish Facebook page. I look forward to providing that for you once again. Although you will not be physically with us on the pilgrimage, I promise you that Fr. O’Donald, our fellow pilgrims and I will carry your petitions with us. Feel free to send them through an email, and we will pray for your needs and those you love. Not only along the way but most especially near the body of St. Padre Pio, the saint of miracles. In our absence, Fr. William Dooner, retired pastor of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Penndel, will be residing in the rectory and on call and celebrate daily and Sunday Masses along with Fr. Bryan Kerns, our weekend assistant. Several priests from the area are also on standby if the need arises, to assist Fr. Dooner with funerals, sick calls, etc. I assure you, you will be in good hands. Pray for us, as we will pray for you!
May God Bless You,
A Message From Your Pastor

Scripture Readings Twenty ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 20, 2019 Exodus 17: 8-13 Psalm 121: 1-8 2 Timothy 3: 14—4: 2 Luke 18: 1-8 Persistence in prayer is the subject of these words of God, with both the Gospel and first reading stressing its importance. But perhaps the first reading offers and extra insight: others can help us in our prayer. Community support is vital to our prayer lives. As these scriptures are proclaimed, can you think of ways that others help you to pray? How do you help others to pray?
Altar Flower Dedications Many dedications still available for 2019, before the Advent and Christmas season. Dedications are $45 per altar side. For more information, contact the Parish Office at 215-357-5720.

Cornerstone for Life Pray for Life At Public Vigil
The 40 Days for Life Campaign continues until Nov. 3, with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting and public vigil to end abortion in America. Will you raise your voice for the unborn? Will you pray outside an abortion center and help women know you care about them? The public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a prayer vigil outside at an abortion facility. Our Parish has been assigned to pray at the Planned Parenthood on Louis Drive in Warminster, PA. Each parish is responsible for covering one or two days of prayer during the 40 day vigil. We have been asked to cover Monday Oct. 28, starting at 8am to 8pm. We need two people praying at the facility each hour – a total of 48 people – to make this happen! This is a wonderful opportunity to give a powerful witness to our belief in the sanc-tity of human life and to be a light of Christ in a place where there is only darkness and despair. It is an opportunity to make a difference.
Volunteers Needed Would you consider giving generously of your time and talents to an organization that has helped thousands of women and families facing an unplanned pregnancy? The Legacy of Life Foundation is having a Volunteer Recruitment Day on October 24th at our Bucks County Office. We will have both an afternoon and evening meeting to accommodate your schedule. The afternoon meeting begins at 1pm and the evening meeting begins at 6pm. If interested in learning about all the ways to volunteer please RSVP to Katie Hardwick at [email protected] or call 215-788-4051. We are specifically looking for volunteers interested in assisting with our three year parenting program, hotline help, adminis-trative duties, baby bottle drives, and more! Please call 267-567-5236 to sign up.
Legacy of Life Foundation, an outreach for women in crisis pregnancies, operates pregnancy centers in Bristol and Philadelphia. The St. Bede Respect Life Group sponsors an ongoing drive for donations of diapers and baby wipes for the Bristol Center. Also, the Center accepts donations of new baby clothing for sizes newborn to 2T. Clothing, diapers, and baby wipes can be placed in the white wickers basket in the school hallway. Thank You for helping Moms & their babies!

Hello Everyone! This weekend there are youth speaking at each Mass about the Steubenville Youth Conference trip we run each summer. This may seem really early to be thinking about next summer. I have found that doing it now allows the youth to speak about their experience while it is still fresh in their minds. Also, my reason is that I have to make the decision by January about how many youth we will have attend. Once we purchase our spots we are locked in to that number, so the more accurate the better. Mind you, this summer’s conference was sold out!
Steubenville is a three-day youth conference which began over 40 years ago at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. We are attending the Steubenville Conference in New York (held at St. John’s University in Queens NY) the weekend of July 17—19, 2020. Each summer over 30,000 Catholic youth at-tend one of the 20 youth conferences held throughout the country at college campuses. 30,000 Catholic Youth!!!!! That should give you a sense of how amazing these weekends are. These conferences have the best Catholic speakers in the country. That coupled with the best Christian music and musicians as well as a time of Adoration that is par none! The leadership have perfected these conferences over the years; they are fun, enriching, safe and truly amazing! I wholehearted-ly recommend it for ALL High School youth!! ALL youth currently in grades 8 to 12 are invited to attend. If you are interested and want more information just contact me.
