    THE ETERNAL GOD

King David wished that the ark of God might have a more permanent home. David may have envi-sioned something like the cedar palace where he re-sided. God had in mind something more: a throne where David’s descendants would rule for ever, a kingdom where Jews and Gentiles alike would be welcome.

Mary’s prayerful nature led to an even more dis-turbing message. She would conceive and bear a Son though she was not yet married. “How can this come about?” Mary wondered. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you,” she was told (Luke 1:35).

Mary’s acceptance of this difficult challenge ush-ered in this, the final age of God’s reign. What was once a secret known only by chosen people like King David and his descendants must now be made clear to all so that, as Saint Paul wrote to the Romans, we can be brought to the “obedience of faith” “according to the command of the eternal God” (Romans 16:26).

    — A NOTE FROM FR. SENIC —

    Rejoice Always!

My Brother and Sisters in Christ,

Even with Covid-19, Christmas is already in the air. However, within us we sigh, how will Christmas be this year? It will surely not be the same as the previ-ous years. During Christmas season, the world cele-bration of this feast has its joys and stresses that can distract us from the awesome fact that God has come to be with us.

Let us not just take the Advent and Christmas sea-sons as they come. Let us make them happen, yes in a different but also in a more meaningful way. Per-haps the limitations that the pandemic impose on us can make us celebrate these seasons in a truer way.

Let us remember that our St. Bartholomew parish community ministers to all of us providing healing sacraments, faith formation and an out-pouring of love and support to all in need. During this time when we can rely on our Community to provide us with the opportunity to focus on Faith; grow in our appreciation and awareness of the incredible miracle of Christmas.

Father Jose, our parish leaders, staff and I, welcome you to celebrate with us this Christmas Season. Those who cannot yet come out to join in our Churches can participate in our livestream Mass.

We also encourage you, in this season of giving, to generously support our parish ministries through the Christmas collection. We appeal for your generosity.

Let not Covid-19 lock down our Christmas joy and family togetherness. God has come down to be with us. Let us be creative this year in celebrating God’s presence among us. We do not allow Covid-19 to deprive us of Christmas joy. God is with us!

May you and your family have a Christmas full of love and joy.
