PRAYER TO ST PETER FEAST DAY 2/22
O glorious St. Peter, who, in return for thy strong and generous faith, thy profound and sincere
humility, and thy burning love, wast rewarded by Jesus Christ with singular privileges, and, in particular, with the leadership of the other
Apostles and the primacy of the whole Church, of which thou wast made the foundation stone, do thou obtain for us the grace of a lively faith, that shall not fear to profess itself openly, in its entirety and in all of its manifestations, even to
the shedding of blood, if occasion should demand it, and to sacrifice of life itself rather
than surrender. Obtain for us likewise, a sincere loyalty to our holy mother, the Church; grant that we may ever remain most closely and sincerely united to the Roman Pontiff, who is the heir of
thy faith and of thy authority, the one true, visible Head of the Catholic Church, that mystic ark
outside of which there is no salvation. Grant moreover, that we may follow, in all humility & meekness, her teaching and her
advice, and may be obedient to all her precepts, in order to be able here on earth to enjoy a
peace that is sure and undisturbed, and to attain one day in heaven to everlasting happiness.
Amen

SCHOOL YEAR 2016 SCHOOL NEWS
We will be on vacation this week. See you next week!
Peeking into … French! Bonjour! Students of all grades have been quite busy reviewing some of the basics since the beginning of class. Counting, greetings, days of the week and colors are some of the themes we have been studying so far. The younger students met Lucy, our French caterpillar, and are eager to sing and count with her. The older ones have been involved in role-playing and most of them are getting really good at it. Singing the months of the year and playing games remain some of their favorite activities. Ask your child and you will be amazed at how much they have already learned so far. It is a privilege to teach French at St. Anthony and a joy it is to hear their little voices greeting me in the hallways with “Bonjour Madame Hind”! Madame Hind

Reflection by Rev. Leonard N. Peterson
Today’s First Reading describes Abraham’s call to leave familiar scenery and become the father of a new nation that will be great. If you doubt Abraham’s courage and trust in God, consider your own attitude toward change. That blessed and fortunate trio of Peter, James and John get to see something far more attractive than a vacation spot: Jesus’ transfiguration. What an uplift! What encouragement for them, and vicariously for us, as Jesus reveals a glimpse of His glory. Talk about something we all want to see in a place where we all hope to be! Lent is like that physical exercise our doctors recommend and many of us detest, even though we know the doctor is right. We have to do it for our own good. Spiritually speaking, we know that the increased prayer and some bodily penance we choose for the season invigorates us like a good physical workout does. We strengthen those spiritual muscles we all need to believe in God here on earth and trust Him with His promises of a heavenly future. It will be something like arriving at a warm sandy beach in mid-winter, yes, but so much more. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” (I Cor. 2:9)
