———CALENDAR OF THE WEEK———
Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
Happy Palm/Passion Sunday and beginning of
Holy Week. It goes without saying, (though I’ll say it
anyway) that this next few days are the most solemn
of the entire liturgical year. They help us connect with
real events that took place nearly 2,000 years ago to a
real person at an actual time and place, events that
have nonetheless had transformative effects in the
lives of millions. We are called by the Church to not
be passive witnesses of these events, nor to let them
pass us by with indifference. Rather, we are called to
connect as best as possible so that we can live, not like
the rest who have no hope, but freed from fear and full
of confidence in the Lord. That has always been the
fruit of Holy Week for me—renewed confidence in
God’s love for me and his power to save. So, please
make time this week to pray with your brothers and
sisters in the liturgies of Holy Week.
Just a reminder that a number of priests will be
hearing confessions today beginning at 4:00pm at
OLGC for the annual Palm Sunday Penance Service,
and the confessional at OLGC will be open this Mon-
day, April 15 from 2:00 until 5:00pm for the sacra-
ment of reconciliation as well. I hope you all have a
very meaningful Holy Week and I look forward to cel-
ebrating with you.
God bless you all!
Fr. Michael

Holy Week
Holy Week is the most solemn and glorious week in
Christianity, the pinnacle of the liturgical year. It is
more sacred than Christmas! This is because Holy
Week commemorates the final week of Our Lord's life,
the very purpose for which Christmas happened.
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (when Jesus
made his final entrance into Jerusalem) and culminates
with Easter Sunday. As Holy Week progresses to its
final days the solemnity heightens. The days of holy
week are called the
Triduum - The “Great Three Days” -the three-part cel-
ebration beginning with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper
on Holy Thursday, continuing with The Celebration of
the Lord’s Passion on Good Friday, and concluding
with the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
(Check the bulletin for Holy Week Mass schedule)
