TABLE AND TABLE BED • The table is made of cost iron and of heavily ribbed construcion for high machining speeds. The table is supported by a large phosphorus bronze guideways for taking vertical loads and stray tilting movements. The table is supported on and adequately proportioned bed made of cast iron and of heavily ribbed construction. The table drives its rotation from a variable speed AC spindle motor throught a gearing. The speed of the table is varible fro 5-100 rpm.The bed has deep 'V' type grooves to receive the table and has oil collecting troughs at the end.

Page 11: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

COLUMNS

 • An adequate proportioned column made of cast iron has guideways at the front and at the side rear to guide the cross rail effectively. The column is mounted on a bed.

Page 12: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

CROSS RAIL•  A box type construction carrying the tool slide which can be operated by hand as well as by automatic feed.

• The cross rail, made of high grade cast iron, traverses vertically on the columns for providing the turning height for work piece. The cross rail is clamped at the desired position by manual clamps. The cross rail is driven by a motor through gearing and lead screws.

CROSS SLIDE

Page 14: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

CROSS SLIDE• Typically used as auxilliary equipment on

manipulators or side beam carriages, cross slides offer fine, controlled positioning of the torch head. Units are available in 100 and 150 pound capacity for single axis and compound operation. Standard travel lengths of 6, 12 and 18 inches are available in manual and powered adjustment.

Page 15: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

TOOL HEAD

• The cross rail carries a saddle on its front guideways, which provides the horizontal (X axis) feed motion. The cross rail guideways are hardened and ground. The saddle carries enclosed a square ram. The guiding surfaces of the ram, made of steel, are hardened and ground, Turcite-B lining is employed for the saddle and ram sliding surfaces for superior frictional characteristics. The horizontal feed motion (X axis) are drived from AC servomotors direct coupled with bal screws to the ram. The tool change for various operation is manual.

Page 16: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

GEAR BOX• Machine cut gears running in anti friction bearings. Oil immersed

• The table rotation is transmitted through a gearbox, providing high / low speed ranges.A foreced circulated lubrication system is used for lubricating gears.

Page 17: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

UPRIGHTS

Heavy duty cast iron construction bolted to the sides of the bed. Ribbed inside to avoid vibration. Dowelled to keep correct alignment .

BALL SCREW

Page 19: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

BALL SCREW• The Benefits of the Ball Screw• As stated before, the Ball Screw is used in a

variety of different industries. Where it makes the most difference will be in the machine industry. You’ll find that many of the CNC machines will use this type of tool that is built into these cutting devices. This allows a cutting device to move back and forth at faster rates of speed which makes it a very useful tool as well as being extremely cost effective.

HYDRAULIC CYLINDER

Page 21: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

LEAD SCREW• When designing a product that involves linear movement there will be a time that you want to use a lead screw. A lead screw is a long round bar with thread on it. When you turn this bar a nut will move along the lead screw. Most commonly known example is a bench-screw. Big advantages of a lead screw are the high power transmission, and dependent on the load, the lead screw most of the time locks itself, so it doesn’t need a brake.

Page 22: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

PRESSURE GAUGE

• Many. techniques have been developed for the measurement of pressure and vacuume. Instruments used to measure pressure are called pressure gauges or vacuum gauges

Page 23: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

LUBRICATIONS

• The table bearing and the gears of the main drive transmission are lubricated by continuous circulation lubricaion from a separate pump on the power pack. Automatic intermittent lubricaiton is provided for cross rail and ram guide ways as also for the bal screw nut

TURRRET

Page 25: Sahil Alloys and Machine Tools

TURRRET• The turret lathe is a form of meetalworking lathe that is used for repetitive production of duplicate parts, which by the nature of their cutting process are usually interchangeable. It evolved from earlier lathes with the addition of the turret, which is an indaxble toolholder that allows multiple cutting operations to be performed, each with a differentcutting tool, in easy, rapid succession, with no need for the operator to perform setup tasks in between, such as installing or uninstalling tools, nor to control the toolpath. The latter is due to the toolpath's being controlled by the machine, either in jig-like fashion, via the mechanical limits placed on it by the turret's slide and stops, or via electronically-directedservomechanism for computer numerical control(CNC) lathes.
