  • 4. Haulage Haul Route North out of Stoves Road and Rayners Road onto Mount Darragh Road. East on

    Mount Darragh Road.

School Bus Routes Mount Darragh Road is used by a school buses between the hours of 7:00 am to 8:30 am, and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. On weekdays, to the greatest extent practicable, log haulage should avoid school bus times on the above roads.

Log trucks are to call up on UHF 40 when leaving Rayners Road and Stoves Road onto Mount Darragh Road.

Traffic Control Plan Traffic control is required for this event. Traffic control plans (attached) have been prepared for:

    - Harvesting within 2 tree lengths of Mount Darragh Road: TCP78_57_Mount Darragh Road_Cpt 1377 (RC responsibility)

    - Sight distance for 1377-1 Trail, 1377-2 Trail & Stoves Road: TCP195_Mount Darragh Road (RC responsibility)

Due to sub-optimal sight distance east on 1377-2 Trail, log haulage trucks can either turn west from 1377-2 Trail onto Mount Darragh Road and turn around down Rayners Road, before travelling east down Mount Darragh Road; or implement TCP78_57_Mount Darragh Road_Cpt 1377 to reduce speed of traffic.

    5. Community Issue Detail Conditions

    Notifications Required

Neighbours NPWS Adhere to the agreed Stoves Road & Maidens Road tenure boundary with 20m road maintenance offset.

Pests/Weeds Myrtle Rust Is known to occur in Bega Valley & Cooma-Monaro Shires. To prevent further spread the crew and haulage operators must ensure all harvesting machinery, equipment and vehicles are checked and all infected vegetation removed.

    Stoves Road & Maidens Road

Stoves Road & Maidens Road have been identified as a strategic access routes to South East Forest National Park. The crew must maintain access to these roads, except when harvesting within 2 tree lengths. Stoves Road and Maidens Road must be kept to the standard prior to operations commencing.

Control Lines for Post Log Burning

In these compartments, post log burning must be prevented from entering the private property and National Park.

Control lines to be constructed by the crew are indicatively mapped on HPOM, however final location will depend on snig tracks and areas harvested.

The PA must liaise with the Protection Coordinator during harvesting to more accurately plan where control lines are required.

Existing Fire Trails Existing fire trails and through access should be left in a trafficable condition, free of harvesting debris and any installed rollovers must be trafficable.

Crew to target sawlogs, pulpwood and other miscellaneous products as markets allow.

Crew to remove all merchantable stems not marked for retention.

The crew is responsible for protecting retained seed trees and retaining patches of advanced regeneration.

  • Mass Movement / Instability

Yes – localized mass movement identified in compartment 1380.

A rock/landslip (50mᶟ - 80mᶟ) is present in compartment 1380 at 723154E / 5917527N. The landscape is subject to slumping on the steeper and lower slopes on the coarser grained soils.

    Harvesting conditions for compartment 1380:

The site of localized mass movement has been excluded from harvesting. A 30m harvesting exclusion zone has been placed around the head of the landslip.

The construction of new snig tracks should not involve side cuts greater than 2m batter height.

Where ever possible, snig tracks should follow the terrain rather than side cut across contours, particularly where the slope exceeds 20°.

    Roading conditions compartment 1380:

When reopening 1380-1 Trail, minimise road side clearing and/or scalping batters. If unavoidable, top soil, mulch and seed batters.

Do not hang up fill batters with trees or other debris.

Where fill batters exceed 1m in height, install drop down structures using either gutters or geotextile (earthen contour drains should not be used in this instance). If possible, do not place drain outlets along sections of the road on the steep side slopes.

If rocky outcrops are identified, do not undercut them, due to potential of boulders dislodging and causing small rock slides.
