Many of the rock art paintings and engravings thatsurvive today were created by the ancestors of today’sSan|Bushmen. They painted scenes of animals andpeople in special, often inaccessible, locations that mayhave been associated with their ceremonies.

The rock art of southern Africa is one of the world’soldest art forms dating back at least 30,000 years.
