Saturday Evening: 5:00 PM Sunday:10:00AM, 12:00PM 1st Sunday 8:00 AM Italian/English Mass Monday-Saturday: 9:00 AM in the Chapel Holy Days of Obligation: Mass times will be listed in the bulletin on the Sunday prior to the holy day.

CELEBRATION OF SACRAMENTS

BAPTISM: Communal celebrations of Baptism take place on the first and third Sundays at 2:00 PM. To arrange a Bap-tism, please call the Rectory. A Baptismal Instruction Session is required before the Baptism. Because Godparents play an im-portant role in the child’s Christian life and education, Godpar-ents must be practicing Catholics who have been confirmed, are at least 14 years of age and, if married, must be in a mar-riage recognized by the Catholic Church. If there is a question about the suitability of someone to be a Godparent, please call the Rectory before asking the person to be a Godparent. RECONCILIATION: The Sacrament of Penance takes place on Saturdays from 4:00 to 4:45 PM. At other times, the person should make the request directly to a priest. MARRIAGE: Engaged couples should contact the Rectory at least six months in advance. Diocesan regulations require a marriage preparation program for all couples. MINISTRY TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND: If a parishion-er is in the hospital or homebound, please contact the Rectory. Arrangements can be made for the person to receive the Sac-rament of the Anointing of the Sick. Also, Holy Communion can be brought to our homebound parishioners.

KEEPING UP WITH EXPENSES The parish effort to closely manage day to day expens-es continues. However, expenses such as utilities, prop-erty insurance and our archdiocesan assessment for central services (in some months totaling as much as $15,000) put a strain on our ability to keep current with all expenses. Our objective is to achieve that goal with-out any assistance from the Archdiocese. The continued generosity of every parishioner and increased giving whenever possible will make that possible. Thank you for your continued support.

PARISHIONER REGISTRATION Parishioner registration is important to the parish as well as the parishioner. All parishioners are encouraged to register. Once you have registered and continue to par-ticipate by attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist regularly; you will find it helpful for the enrollment of children in the Religious Education Program, and obtain the necessary documents to become a Godparent or a sponsor for Confirmation.

If you are not already registered, please call the Rectory Office at 845-561-2264 to make an appointment to come in and register. Hours for registration are:

MONDAY thru FRIDAY 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacra-mentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen

Encyclical on the Environment

In his encyclical on creation care, Pope Francis highlights “integral ecology” as the basis of the conversion we are all called to in order to save our common home from destruction. “Integral ecology is the profound, fundamen-tal interconnection between God, human beings and all the rest of creation. With Pope Francis we pray, “Triune God...Give us the grace to feel profoundly joined to everything that is.” As we reflect on our relationship to life-giving water, the air we breathe, and the ground we walk on, let us think of actions that we can take locally to protect the air, water and land for the generations to come. We might consider supporting legislative bills of our city, county or state that will serve to do this.

Are you interested in joining a scripture group? One is beginning on Wednesdays, starting on April 6th at 3:30 PM. The group will meet in the Administration Building at the Sisters of the Presentation, Mt St. Joseph’s, New Windsor, NY For more information call 845-564-6620 ext. 322

March 27, 2016 Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

DRAWN INTO THE STORY “We are witnesses!” The scripture readings for Easter Sunday concentrate on details reported by eyewitnesses. Listen carefully and you will be drawn into the stories yourself. Peter reports the good works Jesus did, his death on the cross, and his resurrection. The passage from John’s Gospel has us running to the empty tomb with Peter and John and peering inside to see the cloths used to cover Jesus’ body. Psalm 118 sums up our response: “It is wonderful in our eyes!” What resurrection details do we see in our lives to-day? How have we died to our old lives and been raised up again with Jesus? Let us pay attention to the new life around us. It is wonderful in our eyes.

APOSTOLATE OF PRAYER

United each day, throughout the year, we pray for the members of our beloved clergy here in the Orange County Vicariate:

Mar.28 Rev. Thomas Byrnes Rev. Donald Timone Mar.29 Rev. Msgr. Bayani Valenzuela Deacon Donald Prendergast Mar.30 Rev. Robert Tokarczyk Rev. Michael Keane Mar. 31 Rev. Francisco Tejada Deacon Michael Brescia Apr. 1 Rev. John Lundberg Rev. Anthony Trung Nguyen O.Carm. Apr. 2 Deceased Priests and Deacons Apr. 3 Pope Francis Father, in your plan of salvation, you provide shep-herds for your people. Fill your Church with the spirit of courage and love. Raise up worthy ministers to your al-tars, ardent servants of the Gospel. To those clergy among us who have answered your call, grant joy and per-severance in your service. We pray in the name of Jesus, your Son and Eternal High priest. Amen

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Fifty years or so ago, it was popular to teach that every Sunday is a “Little Easter.” Today, after several decades of intense liturgical reform, it is more proper to think of today as a “Big Sunday.” On every Sunday of the year, the Church is obliged to assemble, keeping the day holy. In most places, we hardly attain the goal of gathering all who are in Christ by baptism. Look around today and see what a Big Sunday looks like! Our tradition speaks of remembering, anamnesis, as the antidote to “amnesia,” the tragic forgetting of who God is and who we are as God’s most beloved creation. On this Easter day, we are at our very best. We remember who God is, and we remember who we are in God’s eyes: beloved sons and daughters, reborn to eternal life in baptismal waters. We rekindle our candles and reclaim our baptismal promises. As a “Big Sunday,” today also reflects the character of festivity and leisure that should mark every Lord’s Day. We wear “Sunday best” today, and we may take some time, especially in the northern states, to stroll through a budding garden. It is truly a “Big Sunday,” and how different our lives would be if we took its values and traditions forward into all the Sundays of our lives.
