Mission Statement
Through our gifts of time, talents, and treasures, we serve our parish as we journey together to the Kingdom of God.
RCIA News
Do you want to learn more about the
Catholic Church, her teachings and
traditions? Why do we honor Mary?
What is the Communion of Saints?
Is Eucharist really Jesus Christ?
Does God hear our prayers?
Why do we go to “Confession”?
The RCIA looks at these and many other
issues in the Catholic Church. Come and join us as we
journey toward a closer relationship with God through
Catholicism.
Meetings will begin in September. If you wish to
attend, call Kathy Cheatle at 781-3009, or the Parish
Office at 834-7861, Option 1.
THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE NEEDS YOUR HELP~
The Committee will have a booth at the Bavarian
Fall Festival that will be held September 13-15.
Can you spare some time to help on a three hour
shift on any one or more of these days?
Items to be sold will be Hot Sausage Sandwiches,
Reuben Sandwiches, Sauerkraut and
German Potato Salad.
Help is also needed in the kitchen during the
Festival weekend.
Please call Helene at
834-3698.
Your help is greatly
appreciated.
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” “You make a living by what you get.
You make a life by what you give.” “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect
this nation's compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.” VOLUNTEER!!

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT will be
held in Sacred Heart Church on Friday from 7:00 a.m.
until closing with Benediction at 4:00 p.m.
PLEASE PRAY for the repose of the souls of all the
faithful departed. May God grant them eternal rest and
comfort all those who mourn them.
PRAYER LIST - Let us remember all the sick especially
William A. Bauer, Kathy Clausen, Sandy Farley,
Alice Feldbauer, Harold Gnan Jr., Cindy Herzing,
Baby Leo Jaques, Tom Nellis Jr., Tammy Pearsall,
Marty Prokop, Kathleen (Daisy) Rowley, Matthew
Sharrow and David Weaver. We pray in hope that God’s
healing power may touch all those who are sick.
SACRED HEART PRAYER CHAIN - If you want to be
placed on the prayer chain for any need, just call Rose
at 781-6430, or Ann at 834-6534. The names of those
listed on this prayer chain will not be published in the
bulletin. If you want a name to be listed in the bulletin,
please call the Parish Office.
A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE
The phrase in today’s gospel, “I don’t know where you
come from,” is often used by parents about children and
children about parents. Change is so rapid one
generation has little in common with another. We must
depend on love, trust, and mutual respect to bridge this
gap.

WORD OF LIFE!!
Many marital arguments focus on "Who is right." It's
natural to want to be right in an argument but it doesn't
serve your love. Even if you can fact check your position
and prove you are right, it's better to come up with a
"win/win" solution. Practice looking for creative
alternatives during your next argument.

God always pays attention to us. One of the greatest
painters alive today keeps putting this lesson into her
work. Her name is Natalia Tsarkova. She is about 40
years old, and she works in Rome. After graduating
from the Moscow Fine Arts Academy in Russia, she
moved to Italy. She won renown quickly, and was
eventually commissioned to paint the Vatican's official
portrait of Pope John Paul II. It was so good that they
asked her to do a posthumous portrait of Pope John
Paul I, who had died too soon to have his papal portrait
done.
In the spring of 2007 she finished her third papal
commission: a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI. Without a
doubt, she is one of the greatest artists living today. In
two of her most remarkable compositions, she
illustrates the crucial truth that God is always paying
attention to each one of us, just as he paid attention to
Mary from her Immaculate Conception to her Glorious
Assumption.
One of these paintings is a huge, magnificent canvas
of the Last Supper. The other painting is called Our
Lady of Light, the first major work of art depicting the
new mysteries of the Rosary instituted by Pope John
Paul II. Both paintings show multiple figures and a lot of
action, drama, and movement.
They also have something else in common.
In each one, the face of Jesus is turned away from
the swirling activity, and is looking right at you - the
viewer of the painting. His gaze is alarming,
mesmerizing, comforting, and strangely challenging. It
is as if he is saying, "Yes, I'm running the whole
universe, but right now I'm thinking about you..." And
that's the truth.
He is running the universe, but right now, and at
every moment, he is thinking about you.
