BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH December 27th,2020

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son;

in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father

and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,

and defend us from every evil.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, we are called to remember Saint Joseph as the Patron of the Universal

Church.

With the Apostolic Le er “Patris corde” (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis recalls the 150th anniversary of the

declara on of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Holy Father has proclaimed a “Year

of Saint Joseph” from 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021.

The link to the complete Apostolic Le er may be found on our website or visit

h p://www.va can.va/content/francesco/en/apost_le ers/documents/papa-francesco-le era-ap_20201208_patris-corde.html

End of Year Prayer

All praise and glory are yours, Father of heaven and earth, Lord of all ages: you have brought us to the end of another year in your service. We praise you for the gi s you have given us, and for the ways we have

been led to use them for your people and for your world.

Forgive us, Father, for our failures this year: for neglec ng your word, for failing to listen to your Spirit, for

refusing to love you in others.

As we begin a new year in your service, let you Son be our leader

and your Spirit our guide, your word a lamp for our feet and strength for our hearts. Help us to work for your

honor and glory and for the salva on of all your people.

Praise and honor and glory are yours, Father, through your Son, our

Lord and brother, in the love and unity of your Holy Spirit now and

evermore.

SCRIPTURE REFLECTION

December 27, 2020 The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

“…as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must forgive.” - Colossians 3:13

Forgiving is one of the hardest things for people to do. We can’t give what we don’t have. We need to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness first before we can give it to others. Go to the sacrament of Reconcilia on and receive God’s mercy and forgiveness. Then, share give the gi of forgiveness with someone – a family member, a friend or a co-worker. Pick up the phone or text someone right now.

TOGETHER IN CHARITY COLLECTION

On the weekend of January 2/3, 2021 the annual “Together in Charity” collec on will be taken up at all Masses. The proceeds of this collec on helps to fund Catholic Chari es’ Parish Assistance Program, which provides 24 hour / seven-day-a-week assistance to parishes faced with individuals and families with serious and urgent financial, housing or medical needs. In 2020, over 48% of the parishes in the Diocese availed themselves of this program. Please give generously to this collec on and contribute to making this a blessed new year for a family or individual in crisis.

New Jersey Reproductive Freedom Act: On October 8, 2020, The Reproductive Freedom Act (RFA) S3030 was introduced in the New Jersey State Senate and was referred to the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee. If passed, the RFA would codify into New Jersey law the findings of Roe v. Wade, meaning that abortion would remain legal in New Jersey even if the case were overturned by the Supreme Court. The RFA would also strip safeguards and regulations on the abortion procedure, making New Jersey a more dangerous place for women and their unborn babies. The Assembly companion bill is A4848. The Diocesan Office of Human Life & Dignity has been working closely with the New Jersey Catholic Conference (NJCC) on this issue to develop resources and monitor the bill. Here is the link to NJ Catholic Conference's updated Reproductive Freedom Act resource page: https://njcatholic.org/reproductive-freedom-act. Please check this website frequently for updates. Also, please make sure to sign up on the above website to receive action alerts

A webinar has been recorded which focuses on providing an overview of the legislation, an update on the bill's legislative status, and suggestions on action steps people can take at this time. This is something you can use to help educate family, friends and fellow parishioners. You are encouraged to watch it so you can understand the radical nature of this measure. The link is here:
