    Background

    There are a large number of talentedunderprivileged children.

    YFS volunteers come across many abright children in slums and government

    schools.Volunteers always have felt that these

    kids can grow to their full potential if aproper nurturing environment and

    financial support is provided to them. Sponsor a child is the YFS responseto fulfill this need.

    Utilize large pool of YFS volunteers to reduceadministration cost.

    Mentor program focused on finding mentors ,giving orientation and coordination of mentor activities.

    YFS volunteers and our partner NGOs cannominate deserving children for sponsorship. YFS volunteers to be the coordinators in variouscompanies and apartments to raise awarenessabout the program and mobilize sponsorships.

    10% of the funds are spent on administrativework. A high level of professionalism andtransparency is maintained due to involvement of many volunteers.

    C hild selection process

    NGOs working in slums and govt schoolsand also YFS volunteers will recommendbright children they come across fromfinancially challenged families.

    Details of selected children would beuploaded to web for Donors to choose.

    YFS Admin will assign children to donors if they have not selected.

    In few cases, donors themselves maydesignate children.

    B enefits to C hild

    The child gets enrolled in a good school or privatetuitions will be arranged.

    SAC program has partnered with NGO to find mentor for child. Through this partnership we will try to find mentors.

    Mentor acts as a role model and also help child make rightchoices.

    J o y of bonding with the child. Donor will receive a letter from the child.

    Donor will get to meet the child.

    Donor will receive two score cards (Mid term and Final )Donor can send message of love through letters and

    cards.

    Donor will also get tax exemption under 80G

    What Donor can expect

    Visit and spend few hours with child and his/her family tounderstand the environment in which child lives.

    Identify developmental needs of child.Establish long term goal for child ( 5 year).Work with YFS, School, Child and Childs family to enablechild to reach the goal.

    Monitor Childs progress on regular basis and update YFSabout the same.

    Required time commitment: 8 hrs per month

    Duration: Minimum One year

    R ole of a coordinator

    Advertise the program in your company and / or apartment. You would be provided with publicity material(Brochures and Posters).

    Act as single point of contact in your company or

    apartment to collect sponsorship cheques or DD andprovide receipts.

    Required time commitment: 2 to 3 hrs a week with a trip or

    two to YFS office.Duration: At least 3 months

    Wa y s to campaign

    Send the email about the program to all your friends. Thisneed not be restricted to your company.

    Send email to all employees in your department.

    Send personal emails to Managers and other executives.Get permission from HR to setup a table in Cafeteria for 1or 2 days during lunch time. Request HR to send out anemail to all employees 2 days prior to that and displayposters in few visible places.

    Arrange for a presentation in the company. Interestedemployees can join.

    Talk to the executives to see if the company can sponsor few children or match employee contribution.

    A ccountabilit y

    Donors would receive report from YFS about status of sponsored child once in six months.

    Donors can login to the site and check updates about thechild.

    YFS would send you annual financial statement of program.

    You will be able to contact your sponsored child throughYFS by writing to us.

    An Annual meet of donors, mentors, children and their families will be arranged.

    Mode of pa y ment

    1. You may donate one time Rs.6

    000/- per child or pay in2,3 or 4 installments per year.

    2. To donate on a monthly basis, you can setup recurringtransfer of Rs. 5 00/- every month to YFS account or give

    post-dated cheques.3. You may mail a cheque / DD made payable to HSP-

    Youth for Seva.

    4. You may transfer your donation online to the YFS bank

    account.

    Ho w the mone y is spent1. Major portion will be for school fees. All the children will be either

    enrolled in private schools or private tuitions.2. Fees varies from Rs.3000 to Rs.8000 per year. Average fees will be

    Rs.4000.

    3. Uniform, shoes, books: Around Rs.1000.

    4. Around Rs. 6 00/- will be used for infrastructure, publicity andcommunication.

    1. Brochures, Posters.

    2. Communication to donors.

    3. Office administration, website, phone, travel, etc.

    Is there consideration for childs religion or casteduring selection of child for sponsorship ? No.

    I may sponsor a child. If I stop sponsorship after afew years will the parents of the child approach/harass me ? Do they know that I am the sponsor ? No. Childs family will not know the donor. Donor gets to

    meet the child only in the school in presence of thementor.

    What happens to the child if I stop sponsorship in themiddle ? Child will be mapped to another donor.

    Does YFS cater to orphans ? What about handicappedchildren ? Are they helped or not ? YFS caters to all types of children. But will not select

    children who are already in orphanages or other NGOs.

    Am I the only sponsor for my child ? Yes. One child is mapped to one donor.

    Can 2 or 3 of us collectively sponsor a child ? Yes. But, we would prefer one address for communication.
