THE SITUATION:Faced with low sales volumes of the Chevrolet Silverado and Traverse, a tier 2 dealer association with over 35 rooftops needed a way to increase sales and performance of those two models within the region.

THE SOLUTION:The association leveraged PureCars and their data-driven SmartAdvertising solution for the year-long initiative. They needed a digital advertising tool that maximized relevancy while targeting the right digital shopper, on the right media, at exactly the right time.

To maximize this campaign PureCars used Google paid search, search retargeting, and site retargeting to drive lift and maximize engagement on the Silverado and Traverse. Over the course of the year, no other advertising or marketing activities were specifically focused on the Traverse or the Silverado. In 2014, the only major change in the marketing plan was the implementation of SmartAdvertising and initiating an aggressive digital conquest strategy.

Location is Key: Spending to convert buyers out of market wastes valuable budget. The SmartAdvertising platform maximized the budget by detailing specific neighborhoods surrounding the closest dealerships where spend should be concentrated.

Low-Funnel Targeting: SmartAdvertising never stops improving its relevancy. Throughout the campaign, monthly clicks and lead conversion remained consistent while total impressions decreased significantly.

Promoted Advantages: By leveraging SmartAdvertising’s competitive database of options for every new make and model, the campaign was able to leverage comparative ad creative detailing the features and competitive advantages relevant to a customer’s search.

Conversion Tracking: With several thousand leads generated, conversion tracking was critical to informing ongoing targeting improvements. Once converted, all leads were immediately distributed to the three closest dealerships to the consumer.

THE PLAN:

THE RESULTS: In this year-long initiative with SmartAdvertising, the association went from being a low performing group within the region to beating out the region. At year end, the association increased its sales for the Silverado by 37% and the Traverse by 149% over the region.

After the first two months of the campaign, PureCars was able to approach and beat the region benchmark in sales of the two models. With the strong performance, the association added the Impala to the campaign for the remainder of the year. The association was able to beat the region’s lift on Impala by 14%.
