Local Impact

eVOTZ® is a better way to authenticate voting without paper, pencil, postage or traveling by car to polling locations and we do it using emerging mobile device Internet, sms/txt and hybrid location technologies.

The secure mobile voting service transforms any carrier-connected mobile devices—mobile smart phones, feature phones and tablets—into secure, authenticated location-based voting machines for any election or polling event. The eVOTZ community mobile voting and polling solution transforms carrier-connected mobile devices—mobile smart phones and tablets—into secure, authenticated location-based voting machines for any election or poll that depends on secure and authenticated participation for a valid and reliable outcome—all in real-time without need to download an application onto the device for new convenience and accessibility.

Mobile connectivity with eVOTZ further extends this information with two-way Internet interactivity on any wireless carrier connected device to make community opinions and choices known by secure, authenticated and trustworthy voting and polling feedback on any carrier connected mobile device (feature phone, smart phone or tablet).

eVOTZ community voting and polling app solution is the next logical way evolution to making local public information on issues and information more personalized, usable, and actionable for all Americans because it offers a better way to connect people and their communities with simple, basic mobile internet platform app to encourage community feedback in the form of voting and polling and thereby adding new value and transparency to community decisions based on the power of broadband and wireless connection and interactions.

In addition, the eVOTZ app conveys diverse information on (local) politics and representation to let people weigh-in and participate. Moreover, the mobile device and associated Internet facilities add transparency and community feedback with secure, trustworthy voting and poling solutions.

Broadband connection at home combined with access to mobile wireless cell phones positively influences the social activities and access to community issues and public information access that can now extend into secure and reliable feedback, transparency and decision making with eVOTZ secure voting and polling solutions for verified feedback and community opinions on local governance issues that matter.

eVOTZ enables us to connect with our communities and their governance issues and harness their collective wisdom to make better decisions.  It is a future that is connected, networked and, while uncertain, certainly better by the easy, convenient and secure interactive polling and voting options enabled by connected mobile devices.

eVOTZ® is committed to making community participation by voting and polling accessible and verifiable for all Americans with an application for carrier-connected feature phone, smart phones and tablets that promises to revolutionize the community election and democratic participation process in the 21st Century.

User experience and presentation

Not just a printed ballot online, not just an online poll or survey. eVOTZ has critical mass as no app download required on mobile device. Our community voting and polling platform links local content, issues or candidates for election for voting and polling by mobile sms/txt and galvanizes it around the cloud. With a cloud base broadband solution, community polling or election authorities can manage electronic outreach and maintain local control, privacy and security.

That’s scalability on demand. Voter’s and voting authorities stay in control. Simple, verifiable and accessible voting becomes possible with eVOTZ Secure, Authenticated Location-Based Voting Places—Anywhere, Anytime

We are building a transparent voting solution around Open Source platforms and location-based technologies.. eVOTZ integrates Open Source solutions with standard SMS and mobile carrier platforms combined with any number of geospatial open source databases such as OSGeo, building off a sound library of resources for open source projects including infrastructure, legal and mobile device authentication types of support with open source geospatial technologies. In addition, Open Source and Free SMS Gateway Software can be downloaded free of charge over the web. One high-quality free SMS gateway software package is Kannel, which is written in the C programming language. Kannel can handle connections to SMSCs, mobile phones and GSM/GPRS modems. It has an HTTP / HTTPS interface for the sending and receiving of SMS messages. Other OSI platforms can also be easily integrated.

No download app is required on the mobile device! This creates a new paradigm for “just-in-time” community interactions. eVOTZ approaches the community voting and polling participation model with a “Just in time” interaction model that gives me interactivity but only when I need it. More importantly, the vast majority of these interactions will be a one shot experience. I’ll interact with the device, like a poster, for literally seconds and then move on. It’s a ‘use it and lose it’ situation. Whatever I’ve pulled down to my phone to interact with that device is no longer needed. This is why this interaction will most likely be some sort of web page. It’s a simple way to pull down an interactive experience, on nearly any device, in a way that does not involve installation. The mobile web, and broadband technology in general, is uniquely suited to a ‘use it and loose it’ one time or anytime approach.

The sms/txt UI combines with mobile web screen voting and that eliminates a key problem with community apps, and by this I mean native apps that must be downloaded to your phone, is that they are just becoming too much trouble to decide to download and try, then to organize and maintain. It's just not realistic to have an app for every community interaction you need or go to, or every government, voting or community polling event around every community website you visit.

Accessibility

Today, with limited competition in the U.S. wireless market, there are still vast areas of our country without access to broadband. Often, these areas are served by wireless cell towers where mobile phone communication by feature or smart phone represents the only reliable broadband connection to access community data and public information.

Wireless looks to be the communication and computing technology of the future, as access to mobile feature and smart phones soar, with low-income, rural, seniors and people with disabilities increasing relying on them for to access public information about their communities by providing easy access to relevant content.

Sustainability

eVOTZ® is a better way to authenticate voting without paper, pencil, postage or traveling by car to polling locations and we do it using emerging mobile device Internet and hybrid location technologies.

Today, with limited competition in the U.S. wireless market, there are still vast areas of our country without access to broadband. Often, these areas are served by wireless cell towers where mobile phone communication by feature or smart phone represents the only reliable broadband connection to access community data and public information.

As devices continue to get smarter and more powerful, better mobile communications and positional awareness will catapult businesses and governments to yet another level of efficiencies in interacting with their mobile users for new civic engagement and mobile transaction authentication and verification capabilities.

eVOTZ demonstrates this new potential for carrier-connected smart phones with broadband access and related mobile carrier technologies that promise to revolutionize the election process in the 21st Century.

Focus on traditionally disconnected populations

Wireless looks to be the communication and computing technology of the future, as access to mobile feature and smart phones soar, with low-income, rural, seniors and people with disabilities increasing relying on them for to access public information about their communities by providing easy access to relevant content. Multiple spoken language selection options for interactive IVR voice response languages and associated selectable language choice mobile web page options are integrated into the eVOTZ app’s design for access by all local, state and Tribal populations.

Currently, there are an estimated 54 million Americans living with a disability—a number that is expected to increase substantially as the population ages. eVOTZ can empower secure voting with geo-location authentication and verification, enabling people with disabilities so they need not travel to a local polling place to cast a vote or share their views about issues in their communities.. Instead,

they can utilize their handheld mobile device with enhanced voice, enlarged text options and adjustable screens to make voting more accessible and convenient.

eVOTZ has become a respected leader and resource regarding voting enablement for people with disabilities. In July 2009, eVOTZ founder Elliot Klein was asked to provide testimony to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) regarding "technological solutions for voting systems that ensure that voters with disabilities can vote in a private and independent manner."

Based on the findings, potential next steps planned include a government and NIST collaboration to better research and pursue these possibilities. Details of the public hearing can be found on the EAC website and the official testimony from Mr. Klein can be downloaded in PDF format for review.

IVR Platform Demo

Judges are invited to preview a demo version of the app by calling only on their mobile phone device—any network carrier connected feature phone to smart phone—and by dialing a toll free IVR demo line:

888-466-2905

This phone call will let you test a sample mockup vote event that can be managed by IVR voice tones or by linking to SMS messages for web-based on-device voting option(s). For demo purposes, your location is “assumed” to be verified as we have not set a geofence or other voting approval process for this demo because we did not have the postal mail address location coordinates of the “approved” voting location(s) for judges to demo and wanted to showcase to you options for voting and simple experience.
