Bishop Wimberly is the former diocesan bishop of two diocese: Texas and Lexington, KY. He is now retired from full-time ministry and is assisting in the Diocese of Atlanta. Bishop Wimberly was ordained to the priesthood in 1971 and served parishes in New York, Louisiana, Kansas and Florida before becoming bishop of the Diocese of Lexington. After resigning from that post he served as assistant bishop in Texas for three years before his 2002 election as bishop of the Diocese of Texas. He served in that role for seven years.

Born in Baton Rouge, La., in 1937, he attended Louisiana State University and later earned a master of divinity from Vir-ginia Theological Seminary (VTS). He holds doctor of divinity degrees from VTS and the University of the South, Sewanee, where he served as chancellor from 1997 to 2003.

The Wimberlys have two adult children who live in the Atlanta area and two grandchildren.

Ministry with Babies, Toddlers, Children, and Teenagers

Acolytes (Children, teenagers, adults) This ministry includes children and teenagers who are interest-ed in carrying the cross and torches, and/or assisting with communion on Sunday mornings.

Children’s Chapel (Children) This is for children 5 years and older. They meet every Sunday from 10:30 – 11:10 a.m. The children then join the adults in the main sanctuary.

Christmas Pageant (Children and teenagers) This is for children and teenagers who are interested in this great production that will be at the 5 p.m. Christmas Eve liturgy.

First Communion Class (Children and Teenagers)

Kid’s Table (Children and Teenagers) This ministry is immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. It includes food, arts and crafts centered in the Bible.

Confirmation/Baptism Classes (Teenagers)

Nursery and Nursery Chapel (Babies and toddlers) This ministry for babies and toddlers 5 years and younger is from 9 – 12 noon every Sunday. Nursery Chapel begins at 10:30 a.m. They meet in the nursery in the basement children’s zone. Be sure to go down and meet Danielle, Sarah, and Carolyn, our nursery attendants.

Lectors (Teenagers) This ministry is for any teenagers interested in reading the scriptures on Sunday morning.

Youth Choir (Children and teenagers) This for older children and teenagers who are interested in singing on Sunday mornings.

Youth Group (Teenagers) This ministry is for teenagers in 7th-12th grade. They meet eve-ry other Sunday from 5 -7 p.m. for a meal, games, discussion, prayers, and even an occasional Eucharist With A Twist. They also do random fun events like bowling, laser tag, putt-putt golf, and swimming. The teenagers also do service projects with Friday Food Bags and Family Promise.

Adult Education

Sunday Classes at 9:15 a.m. in the Guild room.

Baptism/Confirmation Classes

Dolby Sharing Group This Bible study and prayer group meets every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at Jim and Barbara Dolby’s house.

Education for Ministry (EfM) This ministry that includes Bible study, history, theology, and ethics meets weekly on Tuesday evenings. This group meets from September to May.

Calling all Acolytes!

We will be offering an Acolytes training class and lunch, on August 6th at 11:30 am in the Parish Hall. After class, pizza will be served!

This is for participants starting at age 8 on up!

"CHILDREN'S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY CLASSES"

are being offered during the usual Chapel time -10:30 to about 11:10. Kids still go upstairs to join their parents in the service during Communion.

"KIDS TABLE"

is offered following the 10:30 service in the Parish Hall. A short lesson from the Lectionary is given to kids of all ages.

"BACK TO SCHOOL FAMILY PICNIC AND POOL PARTY"

Everyone is invited to join in this fun activity. There will be contests and prizes.

Date: August 15 Time: 6:00-8:00 pm. Place: Cheyenne Country Club

Chick Fil A will be served. There is no charge for this event. Please bring other treats to go with the Chicken.

St. Mark's is teaming up with St. Mary's School to offer a city wide soccer clinic for boys and girls ages 5-8. Local coaches, Division One Gatorade Players and high school team players will be coaching. Get the "Edge"

Date: August 27 Time: 9:00 am -12:00 noon. Place: St. Mary’s School Gym

This is a free clinic but T-shirts may be purchased. Registration is necessary. Please call the St. Mark's Church office at 634-7709 by August 18 to register. CALLING ALL YOUTH ACOLYTES!

Meets the second Friday of the month at 3:45 p.m. St. Christopher’s Church

A prayer request can easily be made one of two ways. On the back of the "Welcome" card in the pews or by calling St. Marks office. Your prayer request will be prayed daily for 1 month. We currently have 10 women and 2 priests who receive these requests. All prayer requests are kept confidential.

Daughters of the King is an order of Episcopal women that was started in Philadelphia in 1885 for the express pur-pose of Evangelism and praying daily. Our chapter, Bishop Talbot chapter was founded in 1892. We meet monthly @ St. Christopher's on the second Friday of the month at 3:45 p.m.. If you are interested talk to Cheryl Hudson-Jolley, Mara Funk, Como Boyle, Joann McConnaughey or Patti Jones.

Columbarium

The St. Mark’s Columbarium offers church members and others an opportunity to have their remains interred at the church as a memorial to their membership and service at St. Mark’s. If you would like to request a niche, contact the church office at 634-7709.

Monthly Outreach Meetings

St. Mark's Outreach Committee normally meets the first Wednesday of every month. The next meeting will be on August 3 at 7:00 pm in the Guild Room. Please join us.

First Fruits

What is First Fruits Sunday? Every Sunday we will collect aluminum cans and non-perishable items for the COMEA Shelter, and peanut butter for NEEDS, Inc. Food Bank. They will be brought to the front of the church and blessed on the first Sunday of each month. Then they will be sent out to the community.

Homebound Parishioners

If you would like Eucharist brought to you at your home, or in the hospital, please call the church office and this will be arranged. There is a contact number on the answering machine at the office if it is on the weekend.

Blankets for Laramie County Kids And Peace Makers!

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. Mother Teresa The act of love, in making a blanket for a Laramie County child who have experienced trauma through no fault of their own, we pray that it may help them leave happier.. Each will receive a warm blanket hug from us. We are shar-ing GOD'S love to the vulnerable. Blanket makers will meet on the first and third Wednes-days 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. July 20, August 3 & 17.

Come spread God's love through a blanket for a child in need.

OUR MISSION: Spreading love one blanket at a time. Paper Drive for COMEA

Outreach is sponsoring another paper drive for COMEA. We will collect items such as paper towels, toilet paper, tissues in June and July. Please bring your donations to the Parish Hall. Thank you for your support of the COMEA Shelter!

Serving Dinner at the COMEA Shelter

Once a month a few members from St. Mark’s prepares and serves a meal at the COMEA Shelter. This happens on the third Thursday of every month. If you would like to help with this ministry contact the church office or Eric Nelson. This month it will be July 21 at 5:30 p.m.

Men’s Coffee This is a group that meets weekly at Dazbog coffee for fellowship and discussion.

Musical Groups and Choirs This group performs music at any of our liturgies. This includes Sunday mornings as well as other liturgies throughout the week. It includes choirs and music instrumentalists.
