TROUBLESHOOTING : PROBLEMS WITH RESULTS

ADHESIVE

Q: Why is my adhesive going gloopy?

A: Adhesive has a shelf-life of 10 weeks once opened - after that date you will start to notice that it thickens. If you haven’t correctly stored the adhesive, moisture may have thickened it prematurely before the expiry date.

Q: Why is the adhesive turning white?

A: This is the result of contact with too much moisture. Examine your humidity levels

LASH APPLICATION

Q: Why are the lash extensions brushing off throughout application?

A: Usually this is a sign that the adhesive has started to cure before the lash extension has properly connected with the natural lash, so keep an eye on your speed of application and humidity levels.

3

Page 4: s2-website-resource.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com · Web viewA: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension

This can also be a sign that the lash extension has not bonded correctly at the base, so pay attention to the angle that you are applying the lashes at.

Q: Why are the lash extensions not sticking?

A: Have you done a thorough cleanse of the client’s eyelashes? Excess oils and traces of mascara and serums on the lashes can leave a slippery surface for the lashes to bond to. It can also be a sign of incorrect humidity levels within your working environment – check your hygrometer to assess if this is the reason.

Q: Why are my lash extensions clumping?

A: This is a sign that the adhesive is curing slowly. This could be because too much adhesive has been applied, or that the humidity levels or temperature within the working environment are too low. Check your lash extensions for excess beads of adhesive – don’t forget to slowly pull the extension out from the adhesive bead on the jade stone, to prevent picking up too much. If the humidity levels are too low, you may need a humidifier to adjust them. If you do not have a humidifier you will have to hold your isolation for longer after applying each lash to ensure that clumping does not occur.

Q: Why are the lash extensions sticking to my tweezers?

A: Unfortunately, this is a problem that many beginners experience, due to touching uncured adhesive with the tweezers. The first thing to do is to figure out at what point you are making contact with the uncured adhesive. Is it while you are dipping the lash extension into the adhesive? Or is it while adjusting a freshly applied lash extension? Once you have figured out when the adhesive is getting onto your tweezers, it is important to pay careful attention so that you kick the habit! In the meantime, have a pot of adhesive remover or a spare pair of tweezers ready on your tray, just in case.

Q: Why are the tips of my lash extensions kinked?

A: Using too much pressure whilst picking the lash off the strip can cause the fine tip of the lash extension to bend. Keep an eye on how much pressure you are using, relaxing your grip if necessary. This will also get easier in time as you build up your tweezer control.

Q: What are rogue lashes?

A: Every person has several rows of lashes. A rogue lash is one that sits higher than all of the others. Avoid applying lash extensions to rogue lashes as it will draw attention to them.

Q: Why are the lash extensions falling to one side?

A: There can be a number of reasons why this happens. If too much adhesive is applied, the lash can slip to one side before the adhesive has cured. If the chosen lash extension is too long or heavy for the natural lash, it can tilt to one side. If the lash has been placed at an incorrect angle, it can also affect the direction in which it sits.

THE FINISHED SET

4

Page 5: s2-website-resource.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com · Web viewA: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension

Q: Why does my finished set look so sparse?

A: As a beginner, it takes a while to build up confidence and speed. As your confidence with isolation improves, you will be able to find more natural lashes to apply to. Adding shorter lash extensions to the shorter natural lashes throughout the set at the end of the treatment, will also create a more

dense appearance. Don’t be discouraged, as this will rapidly improve with time and practice.

Q: Why are my client’s eyes red after the treatment?

A: This is usually due to either the effects of vapor from the lash adhesive entering the eye or the placement of the under eye treatment pads being too high and touching the waterline or even the eyeball. Pay careful attention to the placement of under eye treatment pads and the use of tape on the eyelid as both can prevent the client’s eyes from closing properly. If the pads are placed too close to the wet line, the eye will be unable to fully shut, allowing vapor in. Incorrectly placed eye pads can also cause bruising of the

eyeball, so it is vital that they never touch the wet line. If you are using tape to lift lashes that are sitting too flat on the under-eye pads, check from the front that the eyes are still closed before commencing with lash application.

Q: Why are my client’s lashes not lasting well?

A: There are several reasons why a client may have premature shedding of their lash extensions. The primary reason that a client has not correctly followed the aftercare advice. Ensure that you are clear when discussing with your client the aftercare recommendations. The use of thin oil-based products can also weaken the adhesive bonds, so advise your clients to use oil-free products to

prevent the lash extensions from slipping off. The adhesive might also be past its shelf-life, so don’t forget to store it correctly, writing the use by date on the bottle once opened. Unfortunately, a final reason can be poor application. Perhaps you are using too much adhesive, working too slowly, or not achieving the correct bond at the base of the lashes. Examine your practices and discuss the aftercare advice with your client to identify which reason it could be. Remember that practice makes perfect!

BRAND Guidelines

Q: How often should I sensitivity test my clients?

A: Sensitivity testing is not required with our brand, however you are responsible of making the client aware of the potential risks associated with the treatment and having the client sign the record card to say they have understood

Q: Can I apply lash extensions on someone under 18?

A: People who are aged under 18 in the UK are classed as ‘minors’. You should not treat a minor without written consent from their parent/guardian. Their parent/guardian should also

5

Page 6: s2-website-resource.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com · Web viewA: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension

be present during the appointment. Before performing a lash treatment on a minor, always check your insurance policy to confirm whether they will cover you to carry out the treatment. We do not recommend treating anyone aged under 16 years old.

Q: I have a client who is due to give birth soon. How long after giving birth does she have to wait before receiving lash extensions?

A: Hormones play a huge part in way the body can react to products and the start of sensitivities. After giving birth, it can take a while for the hormones to settle. Clients should wait a minimum of 8 weeks before receiving a lash extension treatment, providing they are not breast-feeding (see below).

Q: Can a breastfeeding client receive a lash extension treatment?

A: If a client is pregnant or breastfeeding they cannot have a lash treatment. Due to changes in hormones, clients who may not have had any previous reactions can suddenly become more sensitive to the products. If a reaction did occur, they are very limited in what treatment they can receive to calm the reaction down.

Q: I have a client who wants a lash lift and extensions which one would I do first?

A: The Lash Lift is perfect to carry out for your clients FIRST who potentially have downward pointing lashes or if they require the lashes darkening first to match the Extensions. We would recommend that you leave at least 48 hours between each treatment on a normal healthy lash. The reason being it takes 48 hours following a lift treatment for the cuticle to close.

The Products

Q: How should I store my LASHUS – Extension adhesive?

A: It is important that your adhesive is kept between 15-25 ℃. Keep them dry, away from sunlight and carefully closed. The working temperature for your adhesive is 20-24℃Q: Can I store my products in the fridge during extremely hot weather?

No your products should never be stored in the fridge once you have purchased

Q: Are the products Vegan and Cruelty Free?

A: At present the LASHUS range has not been approved by the Vegan society but it is something we are passionate about achieving, so watch this space!

Q: What is the expiry date on the products and where can I find this printed?

A: All products will have the ‘Period After Opening’ symbol printed on the packaging to indicate the lifespan of the products once opened. The Adhesives have a space on the bottle for you to write the expiry date on them.

Q: When can I use the Lash & Brow Elixir before and after receiving lash extensions?

6

Page 7: s2-website-resource.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com · Web viewA: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension

A: Our Lash and Brow Elixir contains a blend of 5 essential oils and are therefore not suitable for use whilst wearing lash extensions as the oil could affect the adhesive bond

Q: Can my client use mascara after a LASHUS Extensions treatment?

No, mascara will have a detrimental affect on the adhesive bond and could lead to premature loss of extensions. Any application of mascara will also permanently close and volume fans that have been applied. It also makes it difficult for your lash tech to fully prepare you lashes at the next appointment, which will cut into your appointment time resulting in less lashes applied for you.

Q: Can I use a nano mister instead of a sterile eye wash pod?

A: We use sterile water in class and professionals can use plain cool boiled water during treatments to not only help the adhesive to fully cure but also to cleanse away any vapours that have settled around the eye during treatment to ensure that we minimise the chances of the client having an adverse reaction. A nano mister would not be able to perform that job.

Q: Will my clients eyes sting after using the clay remover?

A: We have that natural clay within our remover not only to ensure that it is gentle to the natural lashes but also so that it has a perfect working medium, stays where you place it (meaning it will not run into the eyes) and it can effectively envelop the adhesive bond to work effectively. We then recommend a full eye and lash cleanse to fully remove and remaining clay remover before they open their eyes.

Q: How does lash mapping work?

A: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension lengths to build a flowing set to enhance and compliment the clients eye shape.

Q: Why are there only 2 adhesives in the range?

A:We wanted to create an adhesive that is perfect for our range with strong and flexible bonds, but also give a simple solution to our professionals at all skill levels meaning we have a 1-2 second set adhesive (BOND) and a 0.5-1 sec set adhesive (FAST BOND) to choose from depending on how they professional likes to work.

Q: How do LASHUS Fans differ to Cluster Fans?

A: Lashus Fans are heat bonded rather than adhesive bonded meaning they are lighter and have the ability to wrap around the natural lash

7

Page 8: s2-website-resource.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com · Web viewA: Lash mapping is a systematic approach to ensure you can create symmetry across both eyes and use a variety of lash extension

Q: Why do you use a Jade stone to dispense the Adhesive onto?

A: Jade is a natural stone and maintains its temperature and holds your adhesive bead in a dome to ensure your have the maximum working time before having to refresh the bead after 15-20 minutes.

Q: Where is the Jade stone best placed when you are working on a client?

A: The jade stone is best placed on your dominant side of the bed next to your lash pack

Q: Is it possible to use the Clay remover to remove other adhesive brands?

A: It is not something we have tested as a brand and we recommend to use everything as a full system.

Q: Can my client get their extensions wet after they have been applied?

A: Do not get the excessively wet for 24 hrs (ie going swimming straight after application) to ensure fully stable bonds of the adhesive are formed, however with our great adhesive that is water and oil resistant it means that normal activity is ok 24 hours after application.

Q: Can I use the LASHUS Adhesives with other brands of lashes?

A: We would not recommend mixing systems as our products have been designed to work together and using the LASHUS Extensions range as a system ensures successful results.

Q: What makes the LASHUS Extensions different to other extensions brands?

A: The process of ‘triple heat treated' sets our extensions apart from other brands. It’s a sign of their high quality and beautiful finish. They have a natural sheen, not a heavy gloss and are stable in their shape.

Q: What does triple heated lashes mean?

A: This is the process the extensions go through when they are being made, they are heated and set to certain specifications. It shapes them and ensures they hold their curl once they are applied.

Q: What makes LASHUS different to the other brands on the market?

Our students are taught to use pre made fans as well as classic lashes in the 1 day beginners course giving you the ability to create a fuller looking set than you might expect from just classic lashes. Our pre made fans can actually be applied on their own for a volume look so from just 1 days training you can achieve 3 different looks - classic, hybrid and volume.
