dietician,  the  education  they  have  

received  about  nutrition,  the  self‐education.  I  have  

heard  such  excellent  things  about  how  

pleased  they  are  to  have  the  resources  available  to  them.  That  has  been  a  

wonderful  piece  of  this  project.”

A  Philanthropic  Desert 7  of  the  12 counties  in  the  region  have  NO  foundations  that  fund  health  initiatives.

Majority  of  foundations  that  do  fund  health  initiatives  concentrate  on  most  populous  counties.  Funding  doesn’t  spread  outwards  to  rural  counties  most  in  need  of  support.

Methodist  Healthcare  Ministries  funds  85+  organizations  and  over  120  programs  spread  across  74  counties  in  South  Texas. • $26.7  million in  2017;  more  than  $230  million 

since  inception • There  are  73  FQHCs  in  the  state;  Methodist 

Healthcare  Ministries  currently  funds  68%  of  the  FQHCs  within  its  service  area,  many  of  which  have existing  IBH  services.

Grantee  Network:  Facilitated  learning  circle  among  Si  Texas  organizations  for  improved  leadership,  productivity,  communication  and  information  sharing.
