PROGRAM REVIEWJune 29, 2016Swan Song for
President Pat Anderson: "The Candidates and Credentials"

The Pat Anderson “Swan Song,“ written, coordinated, edited, and censored by none other than Paula Bothe, was a hugesuccess. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show is made into aNew York Broadway production! The starstudded event featured so many characters who arenearanddear to many Rotarians. Many of them set asidepersonal ambitions to participate in this gala!
The Master of Ceremony was Paco Castro, wayward brotherof Fidel Castro of Havana, Cuba. Paco (Bert Smith) wasinterviewing potential speakers for Havana’s Weekly RotaryClub meeting (Bert…..you were awesome!).

First applicant on the agenda was introduced as SocialistPresidential Candidate Bernie Sanders (Craig Lively), whowas actually Colonel Sanders (acting a little like FrankPerdue). This interview was like a “plot, wrapped in amystery, and spun into a conspiracy.”

The next applicant was none other than RepublicanPresidential Candidate, Donald “Make America Great” Trump(played by Chuck Mason). Having just returned from asuccessful business trip to Scotland, The Donald showedRotarians that he wasn’t afraid to confront tyranny andrefused to “sugarcoat” his interaction with Paco and HavanaMob. (Chuck, you were great!).
The second applicant was Democratic Presidential CandidateHillary Clinton (aka, Becky Mason), who reaffirmed hervalues as it related to opencommunication, Internet security, transparency, national security and, of course, honesty. Hillary schmoozed Paco, as she applied some pressure on theHavana Rotary for speaker reimbursement fees and wasoverheard to say “SHOW ME THE MONEY!” (Becky, awesome!)

Then came along President Pat Anderson (played by incomingpresident Ted Moor) who assured us that he, too, was acandidate. Why after being Port Commissioner, peace officer,Chamber ambassador, and member of the YMBL (72nd oldestmembership in the world), driving a Corvette, inventing"wineing" or whineing, and chairing the delivery of 113,000flags every week, he has the experience to be President! The presentation was wrapped up with the dynamic duo ofAngela Baker and Bobbie Applegate leading the entire RotaryChorus, complete with American flags, in special song andmerriment. (Words of the song are reprinted below as theywere certainly part of the fun!) It was an event that excelled in creativity and courage, and agreat time was had by all who attended. In the words of Past President Vernon Pierce “it’s an end toPat’s reign….an end of an error, urh ...era…..and for all thatwe know, could be the end of all daze!” In his rebuttal, Pat said something like “if you want to getsomething done, ask a lady how it should be done, and followthose suggestions!” In conclusion, President Pat Anderson thanked his family, fortheir love and support, as well as all Rotarians for theirsupport over the past year. Print! Print! Print!

YOU’RE A GRAND OLD PRES A SWAN SONG FAREWELL TO PRESIDENT PAT
Wipe away that tearAnd let’s all give a cheerAnd give President Pat a big wave (wave, wave, wave!)He’s been here all year Rotary to steerWe have to admit he’s been brave.
Not a spirit sags cause he put out the flagsAnd he urged everyone to have funThough he begged and cried, everyone took pride Despite doubts when it was begun
So let not one gaffe or the jokes that fell flatMar the record that he securedKeep your head up high and wave goodbyeAnd remember what’s been endured!
