THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD GOSPEL MT 17:1-9 ~ AUGUST 6
Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother, John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, convers-ing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid.” But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, el hermano de éste, y los hizo subir a solas con él a un monte ele-vado. Ahí se transfiguró en su pre-sencia: su rostro se puso resplande-ciente como el sol y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas como la nieve. De pronto aparecieron ante ellos Moisés y Elías, conversando con Jesús. Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: “Señor, ¡que bueno sería quedarnos aquí! Si quieres, haremos aquí tres chozas, una para tí, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías”. Cuando aún estaba halando, una nu-be luminosa los cubrió y de ella salió una voz que decía: “Este es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo puestas mis complacencias; escúchenlo”. Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron rostro en tierra, llenos de un gran temor, Jesús se acercó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: “Levántense y no teman”. Alzando entonces los ojos, ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús. Mientras bajaban del monte, Jesús les ordenó: “No le cuenten a nadie lo que han visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre haya resucitado de entre los muertos”. Palabra del Señor

II Someone proclaim the Gospel Passage from the up coming Sunday, slowly and prayerfully. III In a small group begin to share and answer the following questions: (you may need the lectio divina commentary and exegesis to give you better understanding of the Gospel passage.
SEE 1. What is happening in the (look at the passage) passage? 2. Who are the people involved? 3. What is the situation doing to people? - (Consequences) 4. Why is it happening? - (Causes)
JUDGE 1. How do you feel about (look at our lives) this situation? 2. Have you ever behaved or acted like anyone in the passage? 3. If so, what happened? Why? 4. How did you and/or those involved feel? - (Consequences) 5. What would the ideal be?
ACT 1. What can we do to bridge (act in light of faith) the gap between what is happening (the reality) and what should be happening? (the ideal/ what our faith says) 2. How can we apply the values/message from the Gospel to our everyday lives? 3. What action are we going to take? 4. Who can we involve in our action?
CONCLUSION: All the members of the small group make the commitment to carrying out the actions suggested after reflecting on The Word of God.

CONCLUSION: Todos los miembros del pequeño grupo hacen el compromiso de llevar a cabo las acciones sugeridas después de reflexionar sobre la Palabra de Dios.
