Dear Parents/Guardians,
What an exciting September we have had. I have taught for 22 years, and of course, this has been
the most interesting year start ever. Our students and staff seem to be in routine, and we will con-
tinue to take it day by day.
I hope you were able to watch the “Virtual Meet the Teacher” in your child’s google classroom. If
you have not, you still can. Have your child show you their google classroom.
Please be sure to join one of our social media platforms or check out our website daily calendar.
We will continue to make updates as changes and events take place. We try to update these daily
and you can be a part of all the activities your child is involved in at our school. We have updates on
Orange Shirt Day and Twin Day. We are trying to continue our student activities in the parameters
we now have. Please ask your child if they have participated in any of these events and encourage
them to if they have not.
We look forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Interviews in November and these will be done
virtually. More information will follow closer to the end of October. Be sure you and your child
have seen school marks on PowerSchool. This is the best way to keep updated on your child’s pro-
gress. If you have questions about a mark or assignment please email your child’s teacher and they
will be more than happy to clarify. Your contributions are very much appreciated as we work to-
gether as a team to enhance student learning. The support of our parents makes Sturgeon Compo-

Parents/Guardians are asked to report an absence within 24 hours, please email the school at:

On our school website you will see the icon shown here on the left, at the top of the page or
under quick links you will see ”Report an Absence” please include the first and last name of the student,
date and reason for absence.
Important Notice from Bon Accord Gibbons Food Bank regarding Christmas hampers and December hamper schedule.
We are now accepting applications for Christmas hampers. The Christmas hampers are not in place of regular hampers and are a separate request process which is detailed below.
Christmas Hampers consist of a Christmas Dinner/Breakfast and gifts for children 17 and under.
Forms for Christmas hampers are available at the Food Bank, Family Resource Centre or through our email. Forms will also be included with monthly hampers. All areas on the form must be completed
Forms must be returned to the Food Bank by November 30th. They can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the Food Bank or Family Resource Centre at 5016-50 Street, Gibbons Monday to Friday between 9AM and 4 PM.
To ensure accuracy, we strongly encourage all clients to fill out a form and return it rather than placing a request by phone.
Christmas hamper pick up is Saturday, December 19st 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. We will not call to remind you of pick up so please ensure you set yourself a reminder. If you cannot pick up this day arrangements must be made prior to this date, we will not hold your hamper after pickup time.
December Hamper days will be December 2,9,16 & 30th. We will not be distributing hamper on Dec 23.
