9:45 P.M.
Lord, we offer to you the year that is past, its joys and its regrets. Sanctify our joys, and forgive our failures, for the sake of Jesus your Son.
We offer you our thanksgiving for the growth you have given us, in experience, and in grace.
Lord of the years,
guide us in the deserts we must pass through and the waters we must cross, that at the year’s end we may be nearer to the heavenly city to which you are calling us, than now at its beginning.
Amen

Call to Worship [Congregation invited to stand] Leader: Lord God; what a year 2016 was! People: Too many things happened: Some of them brought joy while the others brought sadness. Leader: Through it all our Lord God was with us, Walking with us, holding our hands; Talking with us, understanding us, Forgiving us and mending us. People: Glory to you Lord God for your ever lingering presence. Leader: God in Jesus Christ, we are now on the threshold of a new year of new beginnings, new hopes, new life, new experiences; People: You know Lord what it will hold for us. We wish we knew; Leader: Holy Spirit, our God, in that which is to come, please assure us that you will be with us People: Walking with us, holding our hands, understanding us, Forgiving us, mending us. ALL: Triune God, we look back with praise and thanksgiving, we look at us with you for healing, and we look ahead with you for great expectations.
Hymn of Praise - Great God, we sing Your mighty hand
1. Great God, we sing Your mighty hand 3.With grateful hearts the past we own
By which supported still we stand; The future, all to us unknown
The opening year Your mercy shows, We to Thy guardian care commit
That mercy crowns it ’til its close. And peaceful leave before Thy feet
By day, by night, at home, abroad, 4. In scenes exalted or depressed
Still are we guarded by our God, You are our joy, You our rest
By His incessant bounty fed, Your goodness all our hopes shall raise
By His unerring counsel led. Adored through all our changing days
[Phillip Doddridge – Tune LM]
Prayer of Adoration &Thanksgiving
Responsive Reading -
Leader: The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
People: He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Leader: For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and this is not your own doing;
People: it is the gift of God – not the result of works,
so that no one may boast.
Leader: For we are what he has made us,
created in Christ Jesus for good works.
People: which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.
Leader: Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness,
People: so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.
Leader: Let us receive God’s gift of grace.
People: Let us celebrate grace by being gracious.
Leader: Let us open our hearts to God’s grace.
People: Let us celebrate grace by counting no one less worthy
to receive it than we.
Leader: Let us open our minds to imagine the impact of God’s
grace proclaimed in word and deed in our world.
ALL: Let us celebrate grace with ‘amazing pity, grace unknown,
and love beyond degree’.
Songs of Worship
A. These are the days of Elijah,
Declaring the word of the Lord:
And these are the days of Your servant Moses,
Righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
'Prepare ye the way of the Lord!'
lyricsmode.com/lyrics/d/n/days_of_elijah.html ] REF: Behold He comes riding on the clouds,
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call;
Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee,
And out of Zion's hill salvation comes.
These are the days of Ezekiel,
The dry bones becoming as flesh;
And these are the days of Your servant David,
Rebuilding a temple of praise.
These are the days of the harvest,
The fields are as white in Your world,
And we are the labourers in Your vineyard,
Declaring the word of the Lord!

B. I am the way, the King of the victory
I am the truth, the Lord of the harmony
I am the light, the light of the world to be.
Hosanna! I hold your hand, my friend
Hosanna! I give you strength, my friend.
Hosanna! You walk the sea, my friend.
We’re going to sail to victory

I am your brother, living in flesh with thee;
I am your Saviour, dying on Calvary,
I am your God, rising in victory;
C. O let the power fall on me, my Lord,
let the power fall on me.
Let the power from heaven fall on me,
let the power fall on me.
For we want power to live as one, yes Lord,
We want power to live as one;
So as we pray and intercede for some,
May the Spirit make us one.
Send us the promised Comforter, O Christ

And let our hearts be filled with love O Christ
When the Spirit come like Dove.
Give us the power here and now O Christ

Hymn of Meditation- God of past, who by Your Spirit
1. God of past, who by Your Spirit, 2. God of present undertakings,
Led Your people through each age, give us wisdom as we build
May we learn from their example, for our service in Your kingdom.
By their faith our doubts assuage. That your purpose be fulfilled.
May their steadfast resoluteness May our vision be far-reaching
As they followed in Your way and our work by You decreed,
Be for us an inspiration that in building for the present,
As we serve the present day. we discern tomorrow’s need.
3. God of hope, to Whom our service
Is entrusted for the day
When Your kingdom is established
And all people know Your way,
By the leading of Your Spirit
Guide us now, new faith instill,
That we face the future boldly
For the doing of Your will.

Hymn of Response - All the way my Saviour leads me
1. All the way my Saviour leads me 2. All the way my Saviour leads me
What have I to ask beside? Cheers each winding path I tread, Can I doubt His tender mercy, Gives me grace for every trial,
Who through life has been my guide? Feeds me with the living Bread
Heav'nly peace, divinest comfort, Though my weary steps may falter Here by faith in Him to dwell! And my soul athirst may be,
For I know, whate'er befall me, ) Gushing from the Rock before me, )
Jesus doeth all things well; ) rept. Lo! A spring of joy I see; ) rept.
3. All the way my Saviour leads me
O the fullness of His love! Perfect rest to me is promised
In my Father's house above. When my spirit, clothed immortal,
Wings its flight to realms of day
This my song through endless ages: )
Jesus led me all the way; ) rept.
