IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:There will be a LOTTERY for LOWER CAMP SWIM LESSONS. The Lottery will CLOSE on Sunday, March 26, 11:30 p.m. Anyone registering for swim after that will be placed on a wait list.
ALL REQUIRED PAPERWORK must be received in the Recreation Office one week after your registration in order for your enrollment to be considered complete.
You must register in person if you are requesting financial assistance or require special payment arrangements. Please contact the Recreation Office at 967-2535 well before the registration date for details and to schedule an appointment.

• Please bring/send all required paperwork to Rye Recreation within one week of your on-line registration. Your registration will not be considered complete until all paperwork has been received. You can:
° Come in to the office. If after hours, you can leave it in the “After Hours Drop Box” located opposite the vending machines on the main level.

° Please make sure your child’s name and a contact phone number are prominent on all documents.
• Birth Certificate/Passport – If you are coming in to the office, you do not need to make a copy; we will simply check it. If you are leaving it in the Drop Box, or mailing or emailing a copy, we will shred it after we check it.
• Proof of Residency – Recent utility or cable bill; contract or lease. Driver’s license is not an acceptable form of proof of current residency. • Copy of child’s immunization record – Please submit the copy from the child’s last doctor visit, even if they have an appointment scheduled in the next couple of months.

Kiddy CampA Summer Of Fun In The Sun

Kiddy Camp is specifically for children ages 3-5 (but not entering kindergarten). It is a 6-week, half-day, classroom based program. Every day the children will participate in free play, story time, songs, outdoor play, art, sports and much more! Special events and entertainment are held weekly to enhance the program.

Kiddy Camp has a limited enrollment. Children must be 3 years old by April 30, 2017 and be toilet trained to be eligible (no pull-ups).

Lower Camp offers an active, supervised camp program for children enrolled in grades K-2 as of September 2017. Camp groups are co-ed by grade. Sports, group games, arts & crafts, scavenger hunts, and special theme days are just part of the fun planned for these campers.Proposed Camp Site: Rye Recreation & Midland School Proposed Camp Times: 8:30 - 3:30 p.m.Additional Services (optional):Extended Morning Care: 8:00 - 8:30 a.m.Extended Afternoon Care: 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

Swim Lottery: Any child interested in participating in the Learn to Swim program must sign up between March 23-26 and select swim lottery program as an option. You will be notified if you received a space in the program or not. You will have a limited time to go back in and pay for the program. All other registrations are subject to space availability at the time of registration.
b Beginner Swim - Pool Safety:
*Beginner Swim: Children enrolled in this program will be taken to Rye Golf Club three times a week for a 30-40 minute swim period. There is limited enrollment in the Beginner Swim program; limits are due to time restrictions and safety regulations as specific staff to camper ratios are mandated by the Department of Health. Only 6-week campers are eligible to participate. Swim days are planned for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 9:00 – 12:00 p.m.; Fee: $125
b MAD SCIENCE:
• Grade K: Mad Science of Westchester will come to camp and make a scientist out of your child in no time. Children will be taken out of regularly scheduled activities to participate in this special program. Fee: $40
• Jr. Rocketry (Grades 1 & 2): Have a “blast” as you discover the dynamics of rocket flight. Discuss Isaac Newton and his awesome Laws of Motion. Learn how and why rockets fly as you build your very own model rockets that you will take home at the end of the session. Fee: $40
• Dino Casts (Grade 1 only): Enter the Jurassic age as you create your own velociraptor skeleton replicas. Campers will cast and mount these 24” long models as you learn about these ancient beasts. Fee: $40
• Magical Illusions (Grade 2 only): This program will explore the science of sight and misdirection. Work together with us to create your own special optical devices that change the way you see the world and fool your friends! Fee: $40

Upper Camp is specifically for children enrolled in grades 3-6 as of September 2017. Campers are grouped by gender and grade. This camp program gives campers the opportunity to participate in a variety of trips and programs including sports, games, arts & crafts, indoor rec, a variety of special events, and themed days.

School House Chess: Schoolhouse Chess is devoted to helping kids develop learning and thinking skills by teaching them chess. Chess has been proven to help with logic, memory, analysis, reading, and mathematics, and has even been shown to improve IQ. We teach chess with fun characters and stories that are woven into a logical, step-by- step curriculum that begins with the basic rules and extends through advanced strategies and tactics. Participants will be grouped by ability (Beginner or Advanced). Program dates: July 17, 19 & 20 Fee: $85
Robotics - EM4 Robot: Spend the week learning about robots while we discuss what makes robots different from humans. Build this EM4 Robot and explore its four exciting modes: Cricket–a joy on 6 legs; Beast–the master of bipedal movement; Trailer–the little engine that could move forward thanks to its motorized transmission, and good ole Grandpa-bot–everyone’s favorite bobble-headed gear-driven family member. Each mode has its own unique form of movement and transforming between each mode is a breeze. Program dates: July 24, 26 & 27 Fee: $85
b BRICK KIDS - FUN WITH LEGOS™
Fast and Furious Car Races: Create your own awesome LEGO™ brick vehicles and race them down skateboard ramps! Then design a devious race track complete with booby traps for unsuspecting cars! Program date: Wednesday, July 12, 10:00 - 12:00 p.m. Fee: $20
Ninja Turtles: Build the turtle’s cool subterranean lair and help to create a Giant Ninja Turtle Sculpture out of LEGO™ bricks Program date: Monday, July 31, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Fee: $20
b JEWELRY & BEADING: In this professional style, hands-on, creative workshop, campers will learn techniques used by professionals to create three take home accessories: a bracelet, a ring, and a surprise item. Everyone will work on a design board and choose from a high end selection of beads, charms and components including crystals, sea glass, ceramics, artistic wire and much more. This workshop will be productive and fun, and camplers will love their creations. Melanie Rose, instructor, is the owner of BEADZ (www.gobeadz.com) the Westchester based Jewelry & beading party service. Wed. June 28, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Fee: $25

If you are going into 7th or 8th grade and you’re looking for something exciting to do this summer, Camp 78 is for you! This camp goes on different adventures daily. We have an array of trips and activities planned for this summer. Come build everlasting friends and memories for your 2017 summer vacation.

• Requests Received by May 31: If you wish to change weeks, you may do so provided your request is received in writing by May 31 and space is available. If there is no space in the week you wish to transfer to, it will be considered a withdrawal from the original week (subject to the withdrawal fee) and you will be placed on the wait list for the week you desire.
• June 1 and After: Effective June 1, if you want to change weeks, it is considered a withdrawal from the original week and is subject to the published withdrawal policy (no refund). If there is room in the week desired, it is considered a new registration and is subject to the late fee. If there is not room, you will be placed on the wait list.
