ENGINEERED WOOD - LAMINATES Engineered wood is made up of the bonding of a variety of
products. These products are “Engineered” to specific and mechanical behaviors for a specific job application. An engineered product consists of wood stock material glued together with a specific adhesive or resin.
PRODUCTION OF GLULAMS

LAMINATED VENEER LUMBER Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is typically stronger, straighter, and more
uniform than traditional mill lumber
Sheets are aligned with the grain parallel to the length of the member, and the end joint between the sheets is either staggered or overlapped
Visual grading may be used to test for uniformity, although ultrasonic testing is preferred as it detects flaw such as knots and splits.
Much less likely than conventional lumber to warp, twist, bow, or shrink due to its composite nature.
