Ralph was a senior at Yale University who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at 22. He was a gifted, self-less, and bright individual who believed education was the cherished means to any goal. Salutatorian of his 2007 class at Passaic Valley High School, Ralph accepted a full scholarship to Yale University where he was a Master’s Aid, Club Soccer player, and active fraternity brother. As a testament of Ralph’s altruistic nature, prior to passing away, Ralph’s last wish was to use his money to establish a scholarship fund that would financially assist students attending college. Even though Ralph was taken from us, his spirit and dedication to making a difference in this world lives on. RVF has been established in his memory to help further the dreams and successes of others through hosting educational development events, rewarding those who have emulated success inside and outside the classroom, and to inspire students by sharing Ralph’s story. Nine months after its founding, RVF has risen over $20,000, currently holds a readership of over 750 supporters, and is led by a team of nine dedicated, philanthropic individuals focused on expanding RVF’s missions. The Foundation is planning on granting over $18,000 in scholarships to 2013 high school graduates pursuing a degree of higher education. As of now, over 500 New Jersey school districts have been contacted for scholarship solicitation, but we hope we can expand the range of applicants to outside New Jersey with your help. If you have family or friends who are graduating high school, please let them know about RVF’s scholarship. To access the application, please refer to www.theralphverdefoundation.org. Along with the application, candidates must send us their unofficial high school transcript separately to qualify. The application deadline is scheduled for February 1.

RVF hopes to further the dreams and successes of others who are as ambitious, well-rounded,

A two-week fundraiser raffling off community donated and corporate gifts which raised over $6,000.

RVF expands its Board of Directors to 6 chaired positions

Summer 2012

RVF Casino Night News:

RVF becomes a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in New Jersey

The Foundation reconstructs its website and develops social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook and Linked-In

RVF recruits three event committee leads in New Jersey, New York City and Washington DC

RVF pledges at least $16,000 in scholarship to 2013 grads

Passaic Valley High School hosted

RVF Volleyball Invitational

Yale University Men’s Club Soccer

Tournament

Yale’s club soccer team hosted and won an annual invitational tournament benefiting RVF.

PVHS hosted its first annual RVF Invitational Tournament in early April to kick off their season.

RVF went online with its new domain, mission, and objectives in early March.

DC Club Night

RVF promoted a night club event at Club Eden in DC where over 80 guests attended to support the Foundation.

NYC Happy Hour Event

Setton Farms donates to RVF to become the Foundation’s first official sponsor

RVF begins selling Foundation t-shirts and is making steps to put online purchasing method on its website

RVF 2012 Scholarship Application goes live on its website on October 24

RVF is accepted to Google Not for Profits Grant

RVF plans to host community service events in Washington DC and New Haven.

The Foundation has applied to more than 15 corporate and government grant opportunities to grow its scholarship fund.

RVF surpasses the $20,000 –Fundraised milestone

Distribution of the Foundation’s tax code begins. If you have donated to RVF in the past and do not receive an email from us, please email us at [email protected]

RVF eclipses 750 subscribers.

More than 50 guests were in attendance for RVF’s first happy hour event in NYC. The event included drink specials and a raffle.

Come out and Support RVF

RVF has been apart of and thrown many events

thus far ranging from dinners to sporting

events. As you have seen on the 2nd and 3rd

pages of this newsletter, we have two

community service events coming up and have

many more in the works. Event updates will

be sent out often enough to keep you in the

loop. Our officers and loyal members would

love to see you at our events supporting the

cause and the Foundation. We have grown

substantially because of the tremendous

support we have received thus far. Keep it up!

RVF is holding an all-day community

service event in Washington DC on

February 23, 2013. Participants will be able

to select which volunteer effort they would

like to partake in with having the option to

work with middle school and high school

students at several DC schools. More

information will be released in the coming

weeks on each specific opportunity. Check

our website frequently to keep informed of

updates!
