The Ralph Verde Foundation (RVF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 created
to reward student achievement and academic excellence in
memory of Ralph Verde. Ralph was a senior at Yale University
who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at 22. He was
a gifted, self-less, and bright individual who believed education was
the cherished means to any goal. Salutatorian of his 2007 class at
Passaic Valley High School, Ralph accepted a full scholarship to
Yale University where he was a Master’s Aid, Club Soccer player,
and active fraternity brother. As a testament of Ralph’s altruistic
nature, prior to passing away, Ralph’s last wish was to use his
money to establish a scholarship fund that would financially assist
students attending college. Even though Ralph was taken from us,
his spirit and dedication to making a difference in this world lives
on. RVF has been established in his memory to help further the
dreams and successes of others through hosting educational
development events, rewarding those who have emulated success inside and outside the
classroom, and to inspire students by sharing Ralph’s story. Nine months after its founding,
RVF has risen over $20,000, currently holds a readership of over 750 supporters, and is led by a
team of nine dedicated, philanthropic individuals focused on expanding RVF’s missions.

RVF hopes to further the dreams and successes of others who are as ambitious, well-rounded,
and resilient as Ralph and demonstrate a strong commitment to making a sustainable and lasting
difference in the world. The Foundation is planning on granting over $18,000 in scholarships to
2013 high school graduates pursuing a degree of higher education. As of now, over 500 New
Jersey school districts have been contacted for scholarship solicitation, but we hope we can
expand the range of applicants to outside New Jersey with your help. If you have family or
friends who are graduating high school, please let them know about RVF’s scholarship. To
access the application, please refer to www.theralphverdefoundation.org. Along with the
application, candidates must send us their unofficial high school transcript separately to qualify.
The application deadline is scheduled for February 1.
