Roles in successful student learning
The RVA Student: The RVA student is responsible for having a positive attitude and always working their hardest to be successful in their learning.
The Home Mentor: The Home Mentor is responsible for helping ensure successful learning in the home environment by assisting in keeping the student progressing at a pace that is meeting the individualized student’s needs.
The RVA Teacher: The RVA Teacher serves as the local education guide for the student.

Curriculum Manuals
- Suggested schedules and lesson plans
- Manuals are front loaded with a lot of information in the beginning
- Manuals are for the parents…a.k.a “teacher guide” or “home mentor”
- Manuals are also online at MyCalvert
ATS Tests
Curriculums are Flexible

Expectations Submit work weekly
-- Scan and send work via e-mail or snail mail it to the RVA office (envelopes are provided)
-- Label all work with first and last name and lesson number
-- Strive for 80% accuracy
Complete self-checks everyday you do a lesson (2nd-8th; K-1st optional)
Communicate weekly with RVA staff

Expectations Community Service
-- 8 hours of volunteer work, reflection paper (All RVA Students)
V-Room / Elluminate / Blackboard Collaborate-- Online software that allows you to see, hear, and
work with your teacher from home

Expectations Complete 140 lessons by Friday, July 12th
--Refer to RVA Calendar for a pacing guide--140 lessons in approximately 180 days-- Take into account testing, field trips, etc. -- Incentives for finishing by June 1st
Completing 160 lessons is optional-- Incentives for finishing all lessons

Expectations Scantron Testing (mandatory)

WKCE Testing-- State mandated -- In the fall (October/November)-- Must report to RVA office to complete

A “typical day in the RVA…
• 1. Home mentor plans out daily lessons.• 2. Students complete work daily.• 3. Students complete self checks on MyCalvert site.
(contact RVA office or me if you need a password)• 4. Home mentor grades work, and re-teaches if
necessary(contact me if you need assistance, or resources for any topics).
• 5. Weekly, homework is mailed/emailed to RVA teacher.

Passwords…
• You will have a lot of “passwords” for various programs on your computer or online.
• Use page two of your student’s planner to record these

Internet Reimbursement•Send in your internet bills to the RVA office•You will be reimbursed up to a rate of $65.00 per month for internet usage.

Attendance
• Follow teachers directions
• Complete lesson 140 by July 12th

History- 4th Grade
4th grade has an additional Wisconsin History textbook and workbook…don’t forget about them.

Moodle• Students in pre-K, Kindergarten, 7th and 8th grade will
utilize Moodle.
• Moodle has interactive activities to enrich students’ understanding of different topics
• Your first lesson involves talking with your teacher at which point you will learn more about Moodle
• Please get comfortable with the Calvert curriculum before starting Moodle
