This “Campout” themed program is for children ages birth to five and their families. Parents please join us for a conversation about “play!” and tell us how your library can better serve you and your children. Enjoy a hearty snack, share ideas, and learn the importance of play. The program will include activities for the children, door prizes, and giveaways. Need for the Program: As a part of the Race to the Top-Early Learning Challenge Grant, we are required to hold a library café where parents can advise the staff on the kinds of services and resources they would like to have at their libraries. During this program, library and Judy Center staff will also give parents information to help them in their role as “first teacher”. It will also provide an opportunity for staff to model talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing with their children. Potential Community Partners: Garrett County Judy Center Library’s Mission: This program fits in to our libraries mission because we will gather information that will help us better understand the informational, recreational, educational, and cultural needs of our community. Steps Necessary for Setting up Event: -Reserve the meeting room. -Contact the Judy Center to coordinate the event. -Prepare flyers to display at the library and to distribute at children’s hour, lap sit, and the Judy Center. -Send press release to the paper.
