Minutes of Meeting April 27 2010

Total of 32 present including three guests from the Manitoba Motorcycle Club.

It was a beautiful evening and the President allowed time for tire kicking in the parking lot before calling us

to order at 7:45pm.

Tom displayed some clothing and cap samples from Variety Advertising and left pricing with Rega-

lia/Property Manager John for ordering.

Librarian Mike had brought more books in boxes plus a book for raffle and some old AMCof M cloth badg-

es and transfers which were given away.

Treasurer Ziggy reported a total of $3096.80 in the bank after paying out $489.06 for the book cabinet,

newsletter expenses, etc. An amount of $619.00 was given to Ted from the last two raffles.

John T reported the Bison Rally arrangements on track and gave out some posters.

Chas reported the Perimeteritis Run on track and Tom handed out reminders.

President Ross suggested that the Manitoba Motorcycle Club and the Antique M/cycle Club amalgamate for

the remaining period with a “Last Hurrah” for September. He further offered to see to the amalgamation if the

incorporation papers were given to him.

Rene said in reply that they would need a couple of months to consider this suggestion.

A reminder about the Swap Meet on May 15 was given.

President Ross asked for anyone willing to organize a Run to DI Coating’s to step up.

Some rather exotic toy purchases had been made recently and we look forward to seeing an AJS 7R racer

from JT, a 1929 Norton from DP and a Vincent Comet from RM in the parking lot some time this summer

Ross pointed out that the club has the authority to do appraisals for the Vintage Plate.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20pm and after Robins Doughnuts, six of the Southern Contingent rode home

together. Beautiful evening, no wind, full moon, Oh how good to be alive and be a motorcyclist, until one of

our number rode over a deer which had just been mangled by a Semi! Managed to stay upright thank Good-

ness but very indignant about all the blood and guts on his previously shiny bike!

Conquering Perimeteritis

2010

Despite dire warnings of severe thunder

storms and heavy rain predictions, 28

motorcycles made it to Morden with no

less than 49 hungry bikers sitting down

to hamburgers, beans and salads. Oblig-

ingly the sun came out while we ate. Of

the 130 homemade hamburger patties

made only very few were left! Some

woosies left early when dark clouds

threatened, missing the dessert and a

good time of tall stories in what turned

out later to be a perfect evening.

The meeting place in Carman worked out

well with those from Portage area com-

ing in separately on Hwy13, from the Oak Bluff

crowd on Hwy3, and meeting the Southern Contin-

gent of 6 bikes already there. It was hard to tell if

the writers BMW was running when all the bikes

fired up (especially the Harley’s!!), to leave for

Morden.!

Rudy Enns gave us a conducted tour of his Harley

and Ford collection at both his shop and home,

with many anecdotes and facts about each historic

vehicle, pointing out little-known details which

made for a very interesting tour. For instance, on a

1930’s Cabriole (later called a coupe) he told us

how he had searched for years to buy one which

had an intact flip-out ash tray; a feature which ap-

peared on the dash for one year only. On all the

vehicles he looked at over many years the ash tray

was missing. One could buy after-market ones for

about $2000-00! Some of the vehicles or motorcy-

cles he had had to wait up to 10 years to buy, be-

cause the owners would not part with them. None

of the vehicles were restored as Rudy’s big theme

is originality, even to the upholstery and paint

work.

Another great AMC of M outing was enjoyed by

those that did not look at the weather reports or just

chose to ignore them!

Minutes of May Meeting 25/05/2010

On one of the windiest evenings this Spring 21 members turned out with seven stalwarts riding in on two

wheels! (Plus one on three!) In the absence of the President, past President Jerry presided and called the

meeting to order at 7:45pm.

Dave P handed out the Rosters for 2010 and advised any who did not get to let him know.

John T reported that arrangements for the 10th Annual Bison Rally were on track and called for volunteers

to help with grass cutting etc., prior to the rally weekend. He called for a show of hands of those coming

and an indication of who would be wanting T shirts.

Chas reported the "Conquering Perimeteritis" run to Morden on track and twelve members indicated that

they would be coming.

A pamphlet to a "Ride In" to Cavalier ND on June 19 was distributed.

Another pamphlet for a "Ride For Dad" this Saturday 29th was also handed out.

Treasurer Ziggy reported a balance of $3015.74 as at May 10 in the bank with more Rally subscriptions still

coming in.

Regalia Manager John T has put pins and stickers in the cupboard for sale to members. Also some old

iron-on patches were put in the cupboard and a few nice sew-on patches were sold out very quickly for

$5.00 each. Some members requested that some more of these sew-on patches should be ordered.

An announcement was made that after a short business June Meeting, we would proceed to Dave

Pritchard's Wellington Crescent Home/ Museum (# 925) to view his amazing collection of antique Jaguar

cars , motorcycles and beautifully displayed memorabilia. Coffee and donuts will be served. Don't miss this

opportunity to view this unique collection, especially Dave's magnificent 1930's SS Jaguar.

Nothing further had been heard from the Manitoba Motorcycle Club.

Publisher Dave P called for nice bike pictures for the front cover of newsletters and any other good interest-

ing motorcycle related pictures.

The usual 50/50 Draw took place.

The Mystery Part had been provided by Jim H and after circulating during the meeting was successfully

identified as a # DC40 Lucas "candle lamp" or inspection lamp from an old Triumph.

The meeting closed at 8:30 PM and continued thereafter as usual at Robins Donuts.

The Eye of The Eagle spotted the following motorcycles at the May Meeting, despite the very windy weather.

In the True Blue Park 1 Norton

1 Triumph

1 Vincent

In the Hog Barn 1 Harley

In the Paddy Field 1 Honda Gold Wing

The Concentration Camp 1 BMW
