Catford Broadway

Works substantially completed (minor snagging to complete)

New level surface and new lighting, benches and trees

New signs, shutters etc installed to several shops to improve appearance

Catford Broadway now a pedestrian zone – the only vehicles permitted are those accessing private parking or loading/unloading by residents, shopkeepers or market traders

Catford Broadway

Two-day launch ‘weekend’ in June French Market on Friday, extended

market with some new traders and musicians on Saturday

Markets team running an extended market on last Saturday in the month; more frequent market dates if there is sufficient interest from traders

Acknowledge on-going operational issues (parking, cleaning). Working to align services to address them better and improve enforcement.

Catford regeneration update

South Circular (A205) study

TfL are carrying out a study on traffic and pedestrian movements along the A205 in central Catford

The benefits of any resulting proposals, e.g. potential re-routing of A205 behind Laurence House, will need to be weighed against costs / available funding

Initial high level draft report received from TfL and its findings are currently being reviewed.

The Council is ambitious for Catford’s future.

Support for redeveloping the Catford Centre, Milford Towers and Town Centre remains a priority for the Council.

Market support and interest in Catford from developers, architects and agents is high

Forms part of a wider review of redevelopment opportunities in Catford

Scale of the redevelopment programme is also being reviewed

Retail/shopping world is changing Potential for broader retail ‘offer’ is being

considered• Need to ensure the right balance

between provision of new housing/retail/leisure/public realm is achieved

• The redevelopment approach and strategic direction for Catford (including timetable, procurement strategy, outcome of TfL road study and other transport possibilities) is currently under review.

Bakerloo Line Extension Consultation

• TfL are consulting on proposals to extend the Bakerloo Line from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham and then onto Hayes.

• 2 route options through Southwark borough• Consultation to understand level of public support

and comment on possible routes• The consultation will last until 7 December 2014. • If scheme goes ahead the works could indicatively

•Tunnelled section from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham, via one of two potential routes.

•Joins existing Network Rail network to Beckenham Junction and Hayes via Ladywell and Catford.

•Option to extend the line further to Bromley town centre.

‘Catford Green’ (former Greyhound Stadium)

Development includes 589 new homes, space for a community area, community gardens and some small shops

Forecast to complete in Summer 2018

Construction work has begun by Barratt Homes. Marketing launch due later this month.

Catford Broadway ‘Pop-Up’ Cinema

• Delivered by the Catford Society and supported by Catford Constitutional Club; funded by GLA Summer of High Street Fund

• First screening held on 20 Sept. Over 150 people attended

• Taster for Catford Free Film Festival in 2015
