RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION FOR THE FLOAT

    FLOAT INFORMATION

A float is any fully decorated structure or vehicle that depicts the parade theme. Each float must

be decorated over 90% or more of the unit. Floats are judged on design, including balance, artistic

imagination, and the effectiveness of color combinations. Materials and workmanship are considered, as

well as the presentation of a theme and overall appeal.

    RULES

    1. Floats must be consistent with the theme Making History in the 21st Century

    2. Floats may use 4x4 vehicles, elf truck, multicab or pick-up trucks.

    3. Any type of material may be used during construction (remember that a variety of

weather conditions are possible during the parade). All entries must be constructed so

spectators on both sides of the street can view them.

    4. Lettering is required, which includes the name of the course organization and the float

title. Lettering must be a minimum of 8 inches high and visible from both sides of the

street. Each organization must supply any adhesives (e.g. masking tape, double-

adhesive tape) to be ready for any damage that may occur.

    5. Floats may not exceed 7 meters (22.97 ft) in length.

    6. Floats may not exceed ______ in height (measured from the ground, up), minimum size

can be as small as the back of a pick-up truck.

    7. All floats shall have a skirt to cover the wheels within the bounds of safety.

    8. There is no limit to the number of people allowed on the float and on the marching unit.

The final decision is up to the Parade Officials on the day of the parade. Upon inspection

of the unit, the Parade Coordinator or the Aviation Day 2014 Project Head has the

authority to limit the number of passengers who can safely ride on the float.

    9. Floats must participate in the parade on December 5, 2014 (Friday), in order to be

eligible for points and prizes. They must finish the entire parade route.
