SELECT YOUR BATTLE GROUND.

To begin playing Four Square, first draw a square on the ground on a level, open area, then divide that square into four equal quadrants.

Page 3: Rule the Court

Assign the squares the numbers 1 through 4 going around the square clockwise. Assign one player to each of the 4 squares.

* The player assigned to Square 1 is deemed “The King” and is responsible for starting the game.

BEGIN BATTLE.The King begins the game by standing in his square and serves by bouncing a ball and hitting it underhand into another player’s square.

If a ball bounces in you square, you must push the ball into another player’s square before it bounces again.

If you fail to push the ball into another square, you loose the rally and the play ends.

DEFEND YOUR TERRITORY.

RULE THE COURT.

1 2If you lose the rally, you must forfeit your square and move to Square 4. The other players then move to the next square numerically until the gap is filled.

Should the King lose the rally, he must give up his title of “King of The Court” and the player in Square 2 is crowned the new king and begins the next rally.
