    Christmas Waste Facts

    One billion Christmas cards could end up in

    bins across the UK this year. One tree isneeded to make about 3,000 cards

    Nearly 3,000 tonnes of aluminium foil is used

    to wrap Christmas turkeys

    An estimated 83 square km of wrapping paper

    will end up in UK rubbish bins, enough to cover

    an area larger than Guernsey

    Around 125,000 tones of plastic packaging will

    be thrown away over the festive season - that's

    the equivalent weight of more than 50,000

    polar bears
