How Rube became famousRube went to University of California in Berkeley, and graduated in 1904, with a degree in Engineering. He was hired by the city of San Francisco in the Water and Sewers Department as a engineer. In 6 months he resigned the job to join San Francisco Chronicle to do sport cartooning. The next year, he did the cartoons with San Francisco Bulletin and he stayed there till he moved to New York in 1907, where he got a job as a cartoonist with New York Evening Mail. The New York Evening Mail was syndicated to the McClure Newspaper, making Rueben’s cartoons more seen. In 1915 he was being called by the paper as America's most popular cartoonist and earning $25,000 per year. He had quite a few ongoing cartoon series some were Mike and Ike (they look alike) Boob McNutt, What Are You Kicking about, Foolish Questions, Lala Palooza, Telephonies and The Weekly Meeting of the Tuesday Women’s Club. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rube_Goldberg
