Rubber wood is a light-colored medium-density tropical hardwood obtained from the Pará rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), usually from trees grown in rubber plantations.

Rubber wood is commonly advertised as an "environmentally friendly" wood, as it makes use of plantation trees that have already served a useful function.

Rubber wood is also known as plantation hardwood, parawood, or "Hevea" for the genus that the tree belongs to.

In 2002, the Malaysian Ministry of Primary Industries marketed it under the name "Malaysian Oak.

Rubber wood trees are not grown specifically for the lumber, but instead have lumber as a by product, rubber wood is considered environmentally friendly (i.e. as a recycled wood).

Rubber wood was found the most durable hardwood found and was used increasingly to make furniture.

The joint is constructed by cutting a set of “cuts” in two pieces of rubber wood timber which are then glued with a good quality non-toxic.

Rubber wood finger-joint sticks, boards, panels or sections are strong as the number of “cuts” allows for bigger gluing surface area at the joint.
