The band performs in costume (black suits) with authentic vintage instruments. Rubber Soul has been performing as Hawaii’s All-Beatles band for nearly 15 years, many of those years spent doing regular weekend gigs at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, and was honored with a “Best of 2008” award from the editors of the Honolulu Weekly. All of the members have been playing in these roles for several years. OTHER SONGS? The band is often asked if they can play other songs besides The Beatles. The answer of course – is yes! Although the show is primarily a Beatles tribute, Rubber Soul has been known to reach deep into the way-back machine and pull out covers from a variety of other bands, to please the crowd, fulfill requests, and add a pinch of diversity when needed. It’s not unusual to hear the band deliver classic rock and alternative crowd-pleasers spanning more than five decades from the 60’s to the current Top 40, from a range of other groups including Cream, Badfinger, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Rolling Stones, KISS, AC/DC, The Cure, The Clash, The Romantics, Violent Femmes, Sublime, Crowded House, and more. But at the end of the day, it’s The Beatles, first and foremost, that gets people of all ages and from all walks of life dancing, singing along, and having a great time at virtually any type of venue, event, or special occasion.
