RTI
RTI VS. BID/LID
BID/LIDStudent Concern
Days
Student Concern Days are different from RtI.
RTI VS. STUDENT CONCERN RtI starts with a
universal screener. This excludes any
students already in a special education classroom.
Student concern days can be about any students.
General discussions of learning and behavior issues.
Focuses on a plan of action to address the issue.
RTI – TIERS DEFINED
TIER 1 DEFINED
Occurs in the classroom. The teacher is the interventionist.
Is effective for 80% of the student population.
Should be a preventive and proactive measure for students in each grade level.
The instruction that each student receives should be differentiated to meet their needs and build on their areas of strength.
TIER 2 DEFINED
Implemented in small groups of 4-6 students.
Can be provided by a specialist.
20 %
Is effective for 20% of the student population
Students will receive the same core instruction, but will also receive supplemental intervention.
The intervention should be targeted to remediate a specific skill and be linked to student’s educational needs.
TIER 3 DEFINED
Should be one-on-one or a very small group setting. Is assessment based.
5%Only 5% of the students receiving tier 2
interventions should move to tier 3.
Students receive the same instruction as the tier 1 and 2 students and intensive individual skills based interventions.
These interventions should focus on remediating one skill area.
Frequent progress monitoring should be done to identify if progress is being made.
RTI - IDENTIFICATION RtI begins with
identifying the students via the universal screener.
At this time the RtI Student Profile Form should be filled out.
RTI – TIER 1
Classroom teachers are responsible for implementing and monitoring Tier 1 interventions.
There are two forms to be used to keep track of progress.
