Dear Engineers,

My heartfelt greetings to all of you.

It gives me very great pleasure to meet you all once again through this communiqué.

I wish each and every members with zeal a happy and prosperous New Year 2018. I pray the Almighty to shower blessings on all of

us for prosperity, success and good health throughout the year.

With the support of all members, the 32nd Indian Engineering Congress was organized in a well planned way. The National Advisory

Committee, Organising Committee, Technical Committee and Committee Members has actively worked for the congress. The quality of

the 32nd IEC 2017 was very much appreciated by all the participants. I thank each and every one for the support and guidance to make

the congress a grand success.

I am very happy to share that the IE(I), Tamilnadu State Centre organized an All India Seminar on “Technological Interventions in Total Value Chain of

Farming to Double Farm Income” which was held on 20th & 21st January 2018 at IE(I), TNSC, auditorium under the aegis of Agricultural Engineering Division.

This seminar was organized in a grand manner.

I wish to inform you that 31st National Convention of Aerospace Engineers & National Seminar on “Innovation, Trends and Strategies of Indian Aerospace

Sector - Present and Future” will be held on 9th & 10th February 2018 at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. I invite all the students from Engineering

Colleges to participate in this Convention.

I request my member friends to bring in more and more new members into the fold of IEI with a slogan ‘EVERY MEMBER INDUCT A NEW MEMBER’

to double the strength. Let us all unite to boost the membership strength of IEI.

Proceedings of the 32nd Indian Engineering Congress – 21- 23 December 2017

The Institution of Engineers (India) had organized the 32nd

Indian Engineering Congress on the theme “Innovation in

Engineering: Competitive Strategy Perspective” during 21st -

23rd December 2017 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai.

The 32nd Indian Engineering Congress was presided over by

Shri Navinchandra B Vasoya, President IE(I) and

inaugurated by Thiru M C Sampath, Hon’ble Minister for

Industries, Government of Tamilnadu. Er Rajiv Mittal,

Managing Director & Group CEO, VA Tech Wabag Ltd., was

the Guest of Honour and Shri Sisir Kumar Banerjee,

President-Elect, IE(I) and Dr. Marlene Kanga, President,

World Federation of Engineering Organizations were the

Special Guest.

- Elect, IEI addressed the members. Awards were distributed

to the awardees. Er Rajiv Mittal delivered the special address.

Inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest Thiru M

C Sampath. Maj Gen (Dr) S Bhattacharya, VSM (Retd),

Secretary and Director General, IE(I) proposed the vote of

thanks.

The congress was started by invocation followed by lighting

the lamp by the dignitaries. The welcome speech was

delivered by Dr. G. Ranganath, Chairman, IE(I) TNSC. The

technical volume was released by the dignitaries. Er

Navinchandra B Vasoya honoured the Chief Guest Thiru M

C Sampath by presenting Memento and Shawl. Er Sisir

Kumar Banerjee honoured the Guest of Honour Er Rajiv

Women Engineers’ Meet

Thiru K Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil Development, Culture and

Archeology, Govt. of Tamilnadu releasing the Souvenir of 32nd IEC

Paper Presentation: Technical Papers were presented by

speakers from all over the country under 15 Engineering

disciplines.

Women Engineers Meet: Women Engineers Meet was

organized on 23rd December 2017. 30 Woman Engineers

actively took part in the event.

IEI Alumni Meet: About 50 alumni members took part in

this meet. A souvenir was released during this occasion and

alumni members were honoured at this meet.

International Meet: Engineers from 4 different countries

have participated in this meet.

Valedictory Session: On 23rd December 2017, the 32nd Indian

Engineering Congress was concluded with a Valedictory

Session. Er Sisir Kumar Banerjee, President, IE(I) presided

over the function. The Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram

Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest. The Hon'ble Governor

of Tamilnadu, Shri Banwarilal Purohit was the Guest of
