GENERAL

This Regulation is made in English only.

1. !n th"s Regulat"on,

#$ha%ter& means a cha%ter esta'l"shed %ursuant to the 'y-laws(

#/ro)ess"onal /ract"ce am"nat"on& means the eam"nat"on "n res%ect o) %ro)ess"onal eth"cs, eng"neer"ng law and such other general matters as are a%%ro*ed 'y the $ounc"l )rom t"me to t"me(

#Reg"on& means a reg"on esta'l"shed 'y th"s Regulat"on.

#reg"ster& means a reg"ster ma"nta"ned 'y the Reg"strar under sect"on 21 o) the ct. R.R.O. 10, Reg. 31, s. 1( O. Reg.1404, s. 1( O. Reg. 1340, s. 1( O. Reg. 7115, s. 1.

$. F")teen mem'ers shall 'e elected to the $ounc"l as )ollows:

1. 6h"rteen mem'ers shall 'e elected to the $ounc"l )or a two-year term o) whom,

". three mem'ers shall 'e elected as counc"llors-at-large 'y and )rom among the +em'ers,

"". two mem'ers shall 'e elected 'y and )rom among the +em'ers "n each o) the )"*e Reg"ons.2. 6wo mem'ers shall 'e elected annually 'y and )rom among the +em'ers as a %res"dent-elect and a *"ce-%res"dent.

11. 6he $ounc"l shall determ"ne "n each year whether the *ot"ng )or the elect"on o) mem'ers to the $ounc"l )or that year shall 'e 'y 'allot cast 'y ma"l, 'y electron"c means or 'y e"ther ma"l or electron"c means. O. Reg. 15707, s. 2.

11.1 6he $ounc"l shall a%%o"nt "n each year a $h"e) lect"ons O))"cer, who shall )or that year,

a8 o*ersee the nom"nat"on o) +em'ers )or elect"on to the $ounc"l and the elect"on o) and *ot"ng )or mem'ers to the$ounc"l( and

'8 ensure that nom"nat"on, elect"on and *ot"ng are conducted "n accordance w"th the %rocedures esta'l"shed under the ct.O. Reg. 15707, s. 2.

28 ng"neer"ng "nterns ha*e the )ollow"ng %r"*"leges:

1. n eng"neer"ng "ntern "s a mem'er o) the $ha%ter "n the Reg"on "n wh"ch he or she res"des and,

". may *ote "n the $ha%ter>s elect"ons, and

"". su'@ect to the $ha%ter>s 'y-laws, may ser*e as a mem'er o) the $ha%ter eecut"*e.

2. n eng"neer"ng "ntern may attend annual meet"ngs o) +em'ers and meet"ngs o) the $ounc"l, 'ut "s not ent"tled to *oteat an annual meet"ng.

4. n eng"neer"ng "ntern may 'e a%%o"nted to a comm"ttee esta'l"shed 'y the $ounc"l, ece%t as otherw"se %ro*"ded "nthe ct, the regulat"ons or the 'y-laws.

3. n eng"neer"ng "ntern "s ent"tled to rece"*e )rom the ssoc"at"on,

". not"ce o) annual meet"ngs o) +em'ers,

"". not"ce o) the results o) elect"ons held under the ct,

""". "ssues o) the ssoc"at"on>s o))"c"al %u'l"cat"on, and

"*. any other not"ce, document or "n)ormat"on %ro*"ded 'y the ssoc"at"on and "ntended )or mem'ers o) the class.

5. n eng"neer"ng "ntern "s ent"tled to rece"*e )rom the eecut"*e o) the $ha%ter "n wh"ch he or she "s a mem'er anynot"ce, document or "n)ormat"on %ro*"ded 'y the eecut"*e and "ntended )or eng"neer"ng "nterns. O. Reg. 7115, s. 10.

%$.$ 18 6he class o) #eng"neer student& "s esta'l"shed as a class o) %ersons whose "nterests are related to those o) thessoc"at"on. O. Reg. 2050, s. 2.

28 6he Reg"strar shall acce%t as a mem'er o) the eng"neer student class any %erson who reg"sters )or mem'ersh"% on-l"nethrough the ssoc"at"on>s we's"te "n the )orm %ro*"ded 'y the ssoc"at"on )or the %ur%ose and "s enrolled "n,

a8 the ssoc"at"on>s student %rogram( and

'8 an eng"neer"ng %rogram o))ered 'y a $anad"an un"*ers"ty and accred"ted to the $ounc"l>s sat"s)act"on or )or wh"chaccred"tat"on )rom the $anad"an ng"neer"ng ccred"tat"on Doard "s 'e"ng sought. O. Reg. 2050, s. 2( O. Reg. 7115,s. 11.

48 +em'ers o) the eng"neer student class ha*e the )ollow"ng %r"*"leges:

1. mem'er o) the class may attend annual meet"ngs o) +em'ers and meet"ngs o) the $ounc"l, 'ut "s not ent"tled to *oteat an annual meet"ng.

2. mem'er o) the class may %art"c"%ate "n e*ents organ"ed 'y the $ha%ter "n the Reg"on "n wh"ch he or she res"des.

4. mem'er o) the class "s ent"tled to rece"*e )rom the ssoc"at"on,

". not"ce o) annual meet"ngs o) +em'ers,

"". not"ce o) the results o) elect"ons held under the ct,

""". electron"c "ssues o) the ssoc"at"on>s o))"c"al %u'l"cat"on, and

"*. any other not"ce, document or "n)ormat"on %ro*"ded 'y the ssoc"at"on and "ntended )or mem'ers o) the class.

3. mem'er o) the class "s ent"tled to rece"*e )rom the eecut"*e o) the $ha%ter "n the Reg"on "n wh"ch he or she res"desany not"ce, document or "n)ormat"on %ro*"ded 'y the eecut"*e and "ntended )or mem'ers o) the class. O. Reg.2050, s. 2.

38 %erson ceases to 'e a mem'er o) the eng"neer student class on the day that he or she "s no longer enrolled "n a %rogram re)erred to "n su'sect"on 28, su'@ect to h"s or her earl"er w"thdrawal )rom the class. O. Reg. 2050, s. 2.

%%. 18  ach a%%l"cant )or a l"cence shall com%ly w"th the )ollow"ng rules:

1. 6he a%%l"cant shall demonstrate that he or she has o'ta"ned,

". a 'achelor>s degree "n an eng"neer"ng %rogram )rom a $anad"an un"*ers"ty that "s accred"ted to the $ounc"l>ssat"s)act"on, or 

"". eu"*alent eng"neer"ng educat"onal ual")"cat"ons recogn"ed 'y the $ounc"l.

2. 6he a%%l"cant shall demonstrate that he or she has had 3 months o) e%er"ence "n the %ract"ce o) %ro)ess"onaleng"neer"ng that, "n the $ounc"l>s o%"n"on, %ro*"des su))"c"ent e%er"ence to ena'le h"m or her to meet the generallyacce%ted standards o) %ract"cal s="ll reu"red to engage "n the %ract"ce o) %ro)ess"onal eng"neer"ng.

4. E% to 12 months o) the %ract"cal e%er"ence re)erred to "n %aragra%h 2 may 'e acu"red a)ter the a%%l"cant hascom%leted one-hal) o) the classroom com%onent o) the degree or eu"*alent educat"onal ual")"cat"ons. 6he 'alanceshall 'e acu"red a)ter the degree or eu"*alent educat"onal ual")"cat"ons are o'ta"ned.

3. t least 12 months o) the 'alance re)erred to "n %aragra%h 4 shall 'e acu"red "n a $anad"an @ur"sd"ct"on, under thesu%er*"s"on o) one or more %ersons legally author"ed to engage "n the %ract"ce o) %ro)ess"onal eng"neer"ng "n that @ur"sd"ct"on. owe*er, the $ounc"l may *ary or wa"*e th"s reu"rement "n c"rcumstances "n wh"ch "t cons"ders "t to 'e"n the %u'l"c "nterest to do so.
