1.0 INTRODUCTION

A prospecting program was conducted on 3 claims (TB903509,

TB908517, TB903536) on the Prospect Cove property during the

period April 13 to April 15, 1990 and April 19, 1990. The

property is in the eastern extension of the Wawa-Shebandowan

sub-province and lies within the felsic, mafic volcanic rocks and

sediments of the Heron Bay group which host the Stenlund pyritic

gold zones.

2.0 CLAIM LOCATION, OWNERSHIP AND ACCESS

Twenty contiguous claims are 1001 held by Nor and a

Exploration Company, Limited. The claims are situated within the

Pic township and are bounded in the west by Lake Superior and

east by Highway 627 and Pic River Indian reserve. The claim

numbers are:

TB 908492 TB 908503 TB 908533TB 908493 TB 908506 TB 908534TB 908497 TB 930507 TB 908535TB 908498 TB 908508 TB 903536TB 908499 TB 908509 TB 908533TB 908501 TB 908517 TB 908539TB 908502 TB 908518

The property can be accessed by a two-wheel drive vehicle

2km south of the town of Heron Bay on Highway 627.

3.0 PHYSIOGRAPHY

The topography is very rugged with intermittent cliffs

forming a maximum relief approximately 125m above the mean level

of Lake Superior. Flat lying swampy areas are found between the

Page 6: RPT ON PROSPECTING - PROSPECT COVE PROP · 1.0 INTRODUCTION A prospecting program was conducted on 3 claims (TB903509, TB908517, TB903536) on the Prospect Cove property during the

two central lakes and in the area of the base line between L2560E

to L2930E. The property is variably covered by second growth

poplar, spruce and cedar swamp.

4.0 PREVIOUS WORK

In 1903 Tanglewood Consolidated Resources Inc. carried out

magnetometer, soil geochemical and geological surveys.

In 1986 Norex restaked part of the Tanglewood Resources

ground and initiated linecutting VLF-Magnetometer surveys,

geological mapping, prospecting and lithogeochemical programs.

5.0 PROPERTY GEOLOGY

Two main litoologies predominate on the property. The

northern two-thirds of the claim group is underlain by felsic

volcanic and intrusive rocks with mafic volcanics to the south.

6.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS

North to south traverses were run across the three claims.

On claim 900517 felsic rocks were observed to the north with

conglomerate in the middle and mafic volcanic rocks to the south.

Most of the rocks have been weak to moderately sheared but very

little mineralization was observed, with the exception of sample

H0601-A which was taken in the SE corner of the claim. This

sample was of sheared mafic volcanics and contained 2-3% pyrite.

On claim TB903509 mostly felsic volcanic and quartz feldspar

porphyry rocks were observed. Most of the rocks were sheared and

Page 7: RPT ON PROSPECTING - PROSPECT COVE PROP · 1.0 INTRODUCTION A prospecting program was conducted on 3 claims (TB903509, TB908517, TB903536) on the Prospect Cove property during the

contained some carbonate. Only one sample was taken #10601-B in

the 3E corner of the claim. It was of sheared intrusive rock

containing trace pyrite.

The rocks on claim TB908536 were similar to that of claim

908509. Only one sample was taken in the south central portion

of the claim. This sample was of highly sheared mafic volcanics

containing up to l 1?; pyrite.

7.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

A major east-west lineament at the southern portion of 2

claims may be a major fault. Rocks were found to be weak to

moderately sheared at this break. It is important to note that

this break is also the mafic-felsic contact. Further prospecting

along this break should take place after the snow is gone.

A large east-west swamp in the eastern portion of claim

TB903517 is along strike from known anomalous soil samples to the

east and could be of interest in the future.
