1.0 INTRODUCTION

The Whitney and Tisdale properties of Mike Caron consist of 6 unpatented claims located in Whitney

and Tisdale townships. During September of 1998 a program of line-cutting and geophysical surveys

were conducted over these claim groups. The geophysical program consisted of total field magnetic

and VLF-EM electromagnetic surveying. The line-cutting and geophysical programs were carried by

M.C Exploration Services Inc,. of South Porcupine, Ontario.

2.0 LOCATION AND ACCESS

The Tisdale and Whitney properties are located 4.5 and 2.5 kilometres north of the town of

Porcupine , Ontario respectively. The Tisdale claim group is located with the township of Tisdale

within Lot l, Concession 6,; while the Whitney claim group is located within the township of Whitney

within Lot 11, Concession 5. Access to both grids is available via all weather concession roads north

of Porcupine, Ontario (see figure 1.0).

3.0 SUMMARY OF 1998 GEOPHYSICAL AND LINE CUTTING PROGRAM

The line cutting on the Tisdale grid totalled 8.8 kilometres which consisted of 800 metre long grid

lines cut at 100 metre spacings, with an 800 metre long base line and 800 metre long tie-line cut

perpendicularly to the grid lines. The line cutting on the Whitney grid consisted of 400 metre long

grid lines cut at 100 metre spacings, with and 800 metre long tie line and base line cut perpendicularly

to the grid lines. For both grids, pickets were chained at 25 metre intervals along all lines.

The geophysical program for both grids consisted of total field magnetic surveying and VLF-

EM electromagnetic surveying. The total field magnetic survey on the Tisdale grid totalled 8.9

kilometres with readings collected every 12.5 meters along all lines, and for the Whitney grid a total

of 5.2 kilometers of magnetic data was collected with reading measured every 12.5 meters along all

lines. The VEF-EM survey was conducted for both grids utilizing the transmitting station located in

Cutler, Maine; which transmitts at a frequency of 24.0 KHz. The data for the VLF surveys for both

grids was collected at 25 metre station intervals. A total of 6.6 kilomteres was surveyed on the

Tisdale grid and 3.6 kilomteres was surveyed on the Whitney grid.

A description of both instruments and survey methods can be found in appendix A.

4.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS

Tisdale Grid

The magnetic survey on Tisdale grid indicates a wide range of values, between 56532 and 60674 nT.

The background magnetic field strength is 58,000 nT over the Tisdale grid.

The isomagnetic contour pattern suggests an underlying lithology striking in an east-west direction.

The most significant magnetic anomalies on the Tisdale are a series of east-west striking linear

magnetic highs centred at 2+75S, 0+00, and 2+50N. These magnetic highs range up to 2500 nT

above background.

The VLF-EM survey conducted over the Tisdale grid outlined many conductive responses, most of

which inidicate relatively strong conductivity responses. The most significant conductors have been

identified and grouped into conductive trends where possible. These have been outlined and labelled

A to H and are shown the on the VLF-EM profile map. It is also observed that the VLF-EM

conductive horizons are located between, and flanking the linear magnetic highs.

Whitney Grid

The magnetic survey over the Whitney grid displays only a mild degree of variability over the extent

of the grid area. The total field magnetic values range bewteen 57440 nT and 58017 nT, with a

background magnetic level of approximately 57000 nT. The magnetic contour pattern suggests a

decreasing magnetic gradient from north to south, with an underlying lithology striking in an east-

west direction.

The VLF-EM survey over the Whitney detected 4 conductive trends. These conductive trends, are

interpreted and labelled A to D on the VLF-EM profile map.

5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The VLF and magnetic surveys over the Tisdale and Whitney grids have successfully outlined

geophysical anomalies which are worthy of additonal work. The VLF survey has outlined numerous

east west trending conductive horizons over both grids. These anomalous responses represent

potential targets for gold bearing mineralization.

It is recommended that a program of induced polarization and resistivity surveying be carried out

over both grids in order to better delineate and prioritize any potential targets. A program utilizing

either the dipole-dipole or pole-dipole configuration with survey specifications of an 'a' spacing of

25 metres and 0=1 to 6 is recommended.

Any geological or geochemical information existing for the surveyed grids will aid in further

assessing the geophysical targets.

Respectively Submitted,

Matthew Johnston Consulting Geophysicist

Survey Theory - Total Field Magnetics

Magnetic Survey

Theory:

The magnetic method is based on measuring alteration in the shape and magnitude of the earth's naturally occurring magnetic field caused by changes in the magnetization of the rocks in the earth. These changes in magnetization are due mainly to the presence of the magnetic minerals, of which the most common is magnetite, and to a lesser extent illuminate, pyrrhotite, and some less common minerals. Magnetic anomalies in the earth's filed are caused by changes in two types of magnetization: (1) Induced, caused by the magnetic field being altered and enhanced by increases in the magnetic susceptibility of the rocks, which is a function of the concentration of the magnetic minerals. (2) Remanent magnetism is independent of the earth's magnetic field, and is the permanent magnetization of the magnetic particles (magnetite, etc.) in the rocks. This is created when these particles orient themselves parallel to the ambient field when cooling. This magnetization may not be in the same direction as the present earth's field, due to changes in the orientation of the rock or the field. The unit of measurement (variations in intensity) is commonly known as the Gamma which is equivalent to the nanotesla (nT).

Method:

The magnetometer, GSM-19 with an Overhauser sensor measures the Total Magnetic Field (TFM) perpendicular to the earth's field (horizontal position in the polar region). The unit has no moving parts, produces an absolute and relatively high resolution measurement of the field and displays the measurement on a digital lighted display and is recorded (to memory). Initially, the tuning of the instrument should agree with the nominal value of the magnetic field for each particular area. The Overhauser procession magnetometer collected the data with a 0.2 nanoTesla accuracy. The operator read each and every line at a 12.5m interval with the sensor attached to the top of three (56cm), aluminum tubing sections. The readings were corrected for changes in the earth's magnetic field (diurnal drift) with a similar GSM-19 magnetometer, acting as a stationary base station which automatically read and stored the readings at every 30 seconds. The data from both units was then downloaded to PC and base corrected values were computed.

General

The GSM-19 is a state-of-the-art magnetometer/VLF system that delivers

quality data and the extensive capabilities

required to perform a broad spectrum of

applications. Whether the application calls for detailed ground surveys, or

remotely controlled magnetic observatory measurements, you can count on the

GSM-19 system to meet your goals.

The proton magnetometer can be equipped with gradiometer or VLF

options, and is upgradable to an

Overhauser Magnetometer

Simultaneous Gradiometer

Many mining, environmental, and

archaeological applications call for high-sensitivity gradiometer surveys

The GSM-19 meets these needs in several ways. For example, simultaneous measurement of the

magnetic field at both sensors eliminates diurnal magnetic effects

"Walking" Magnetomctcr/Gradiomcter

The "Walking" option enables acquisition

of nearly continuous data on survey lines.

Data is recorded at discrete time intervals

(up to 2 readings-per-second) as the

instrument travels along the line.

Omnidirectional VLF

With the omnidirectional VLF option,

up to three stations of VLF data can be

acquired without orienting. Moreover,

the operator can record both magnetic

and VLF data with a single stroke on

the keypad.

Remote Control Operation

When used during observatory, marine,

and airborne base station applications,

this option allows users to set parameters

and initiate measurements from a

computer terminal using standard RS-232

commands. A real-time transmission

capability is provided to allow data quality monitoring while marine or

vehicle borne surveys are in progress.

Automatic Tuning

Tuning is automatic in all modes of

operation with initial preset. An

override option is also provided for

manual and remote modes. Tuning

steps are 1,000 gammas wide.

Adaptability to High Gradients

In standard instruments, a gradient in

the magnetic field across the sensor

volume can shorten the decay time of

the proton precession signal. However,

the GSM-19 monitors the signal decay,

and calculates the optimal time interval

for measurement. Warning messages

appear on the display when the measuring interval becomes too short

The EM-16 electromagnetic survey is a one man survey

designed to operate at the VLF radio frequencies, pr

esently

in the 15 to 25KHz range. The EM-16 basically measur

es lateral

resistivity contrast, such as occur when a steeply dipping

conductive sheet or dyke intersects host rock of higher

resistivity.

The coupling between VLF transmitter and the main g

eological

strike of the area to be observed is all important. The

direction to the VLF transmitter should fall within 30 of

geological strike ( BL direction heading towards station ). The

direction to the transmitting station can be found b

y using the

EM-16 in a horizontal position and sweeping until a null is

obtained. The direction can be noted by compass. The reading is

then taken at a right angle to the station and sweep

ing until a

null is found.

The signal used for the EM-16 survey are transmitte

d by

U.S. or other submarine communication stations. The following

figure shows where some of the submarine communicati

on stations

are located.
