1899 The APHA, holds a meeting in Minneapolis to appoint a committee which would extend their ‘standard procedures’ (developed previously by W.H. Welch) to “all other lines of investigation involved in the analysis of water.” This committee was called, the “Committee on Standard Methods of Water Analysis” and was charged with the extension of standard procedures to all methods involved in the analysis of water.
1899 William Pitt Mason writes the seminal, “Examination of Water” 1900 - 1st progress report by 1899 APHA committee 1901 - 2nd progress report by 1899 APHA committee 1902 - 3rd progress report by 1899 APHA committee 1905 A ‘Report’ (representing the 4th and final APHA committee report)
entitled, “Standard Methods of Water Analysis,” was published as a supplement to the Journal of Infectious Diseases. This report, which had been previously presented to the Laboratory Section of the APHA in Havana in January 1905, was developed by G.W. Fuller, Sec-G.C. Whipple, Sec-H.W. Clark, E.O. Jordan, H.L. Russell, J.W. Ellms, and R.S. Weston.
