English Language Teaching in India :Problems and Innovations English has a status of associate language, but in fact it is the most important language of India. After Hindi it is the most commonly spoken language in India and probably the most read and written language in India. English in India is used not only for com- municating with the out- side world, but also for inter-state and intrastate communication. Keeping in view this use of English Language Dr Pankaj Vyas,Associate Prof. in S.S.College of Engineering, Udaipur and Dr Mehzbeen Sadriwala, Assistant Prof. in J.R.N.Rajasthan University, Udaipur come out with a book under the title : English Language Teaching in India, Problems and Innovations. This book is sure going to serve all the students of English Language and open the new door of learning even to non -English students.English is progressively being deemed as a 'must-know' language in India. It is rather intriguing to observe that in a multilingual country, regardless of official language policies designed to support the use of regional languages in educational contexts, English is in fact used in all the areas of everyday living in the country. It is the lan- guage of administration and education, and further- more jobs in India continue to require fluency in English. This campaign is making things better in all marked villages across the dis- trict. The implementation of the campaign is being done at a swift pace taking all the agen- cies and help groups into con- sideration. Each of the agen- cies and people involved are targeting to complete all the water storage and related tasks by June 30 which is the date set. This will ensure that all the measures being taken to con- serve the rainwater in coming season become successful. From ground level worker to top officials, all are con- stantly monitoring and working round the clock for the success of this mission. The project not only is an ambitious attempt by the government to provide enough water for all needs but it also aims at improving lives of people. Earlier in the Baara village of Girva circle, a naaka was constructed with dimen- sions of 140 x 8 x 12. It used to collect the rainy water from a 14 kilometer square of area. The capacity of the naaka was about 5.5 lacs of liters but now this naaka has been filled with the soil that used to flow in with the water. Now after all the hard work from volunteers and govern- ment suppor, the dam is now getting a good shape and increased capacity. Now this Naaka of Baara which stands rennovated and upgraded with capacity is all set to quench the thirst of not only adjoining areas but also of nearby places. a small canal of 900 meters will help along. 600 meters of the canal is already concreted while the remaiing 300 meters of canal will be cemented soon after the crops are cut. Now this Naaka will have additional capacity of 500 cubic feet which could not only be possible due to consolidation of the dam and construction of the canal. The greenery around will further ensure that people come here for tourism as well.Tribal peo- ple are very pleased to see this dam in function. They now will have water round the year and all their needs besides farm- ing will be met with ease. Such scenario is Rajasthan is very promising of course. The main reason why such examples are making history is because peo- ple have taken things in their hands. The public participation has been unprecedented. Earlier where people used to stay away from public works, now they are taking full inter- est and taking charge of their things. Home minister in a review meeting recently acquired the feedback of the campaign while secretary in charge Ravishankar Shrivastava stressed upon pushing the activeness towards the campaign. District collec- tor Rohit Gupta further instruct- ed officials to imnspire more people for more participation. Rajkumar Rinvas has also asked to expedite other water conservation projects in forests for more water storage. With general public, even army is participating in water conser- vation activities which is further motivational to the people. From reporting news as it is to delivering verdict, media has come a longway. There was a time when news used to be very important part of the dayand people would spend that one hour in front of TV or beside a radio setto know what was happening across the world. Now we have 24 hours run-ning channels. There are hundreds of such channels which serve you news

in various colors and tastes. The reporting, unlike earlier, today is very biased and as abalanced listener, you will get a clear ideawhat exactly the anchor is trying to make youbelieve. The conviction with which the news

is delivered has a strong impact on the listener and they begin to believethe idea being floated. But now these days so many channels are beingaired and most coming with one side or other of the issue, people have start-ed labelling channels with political parties. And this is done by the peoplewho find news opposing their party. One news against your political partyand people start a campaign to label the news channel as biased. Well, allthis is not good at all for the healthy social and political environs of the coun-ty. A news channel is generally aired across the world and entire world seeswhat's happening in a country. And when it's India, people take plenty ofinterest. If one channel is laying a positive growth story of the governmentanother is questioning it, it does not help the cause of India that needs invest-ment and for which a positive framework of trust and sustainable growth isneeded.True, that media must highlight all the wrongdoings, corruptions, and exploitation in as it is color but the same time, the same media alsomust showcase a growth story of the country. Media is a very powerful toolto keep people informed and aware. It must understand that if they keep onpainting one-sided story of the matter, soon people will start ignoring it. Eachstory should be a balanced one. All important questions must be asked andanswers must be presented without any coloring. Today the youth is verysmart. Any lie would nose-dive in no time. Also the analysis that these chan-nels present cannot fool people for a long time. So anyways the truth willcome out and then the channel that doctored the image of any incident willlose all the credibility. In the wake of recent JNU developments, it has beenproved that media can be important tool but at the same time some chan-nels that allegedly played fake videos have lost their credibility. There couldbe a bunch of people who would have liked these doctored videos but peo-ple at large felt cheated. Its time media takes the responsibility and stop con-ducting media trials. Reporting should be clean and simple without any col-oring. Let the people see and decide what exactly should be the takeaway.

Bollywood is the sobriquet for the hindilanguage film industry, based in Mumbai. The term is used as to refer to the wholeof Indian cinema. Raja harishchandra(1913) is known as the first silent featurefilm made in india but the first sound filmwas alam ara which was released in 1931.

And then, a need was felt to honourthe people for their excellence in cinematicachievements, as a result 'the timesgroup' started filmfare awards in 1954 tohonour both artistic and technical excel-lence of professionals in the hindi languagefilm industry , which is one of the oldestfilm events in india, In which only 5 awardswere presented at the starting. But withtime, the categories had grown upto to 37.With time, a total of 9 award functions arebeing held now, which are as follows : -Screen Awards, Stardust awards, Apsaraawards, v shantaram awards, Global Indianfilm awards, Zee cine awards, internationalIndian film academy (IIFA), Times india filmawards (Toifa) including filmfare.

All the technical persons, are being hon-ored during all the award functions, but till

now, the category for best hair and make-up artist had not been introduced in anyof the award functions inspite of "IIFA"awards which has only make-up catego-ry.

Like other technical people, hair and

make-up artist had also played on impor-tant role since the first Indian film had beenmade. Their contribution to create a beau-tiful and screen appealing face can't beignored and till now, many make-up andhair artists had created stunning and beau-

tiful looks Indian for the whole film frater-nity .

On the other hand, Oscar award whichis the oldest and biggest film award func-tion had been honoring hair and make-upartist since 1981 for their outstanding con-tribution in cinemas.

Why till now, hair and make-up artistare not being given their due for their hardwork and passion which they put on mak-ing a hero and heroine like fairy tale char-acters.

Their contribution is also as importantas any other technical teams. A movie isincomplete without them, they makes anormal looking person a superstar , anold person, an ugly person etc. so, we nowdemand that with the padma awards, ahair and make- up artist should be hon-oured for their contribution in film frater-nity awards too.

And we congratulate the team of hairand make-up artist (Damian martin, Lesleyvarderwalt and elka wardega) for best hairand make-up design for 'mad max- furyroad' at Oscar awards 2016.

Lost ParadiseWe have run out of colours,

Our ears thirst for the sound of feathers,All around we see a dull shade of brown and grey,

All green and blue has become it's prey,A dullness untouched by the bright wings of the butter-

fly,A silence unbroken by the humming of the bees we no

longer spy,Let's get our colours back,Let's get our music back,

We have to wake up and rise to regain our paradise.Prof. Mukta Sharma

Implants consist of anexternal speech processor andan internal component.Tounderstand how a cochlearimplant works it is first neces-sary to understand how hear-ing ears hear and process

sound. In hearing ears, soundwaves cause changes in airpressure in the canal, whichmake the eardrum vibrate. These vibrations pass into theinner ear, or cochlear, whichis filled with fluid. The cochlearis like a snail in shape. If youimagine it rolled out, it resem-bles a piano keyboard in thatit has low notes at one end andhigh notes at the other. All alongthe cochlear there are thou-sands of very sensitive cellscalled hair cells. When a soundis made the fluid in the cochlearmoves and stimulates thesehair cells to send a small elec-trical charge to the auditory(hearing) nerve. This smallelectrical current passes along

the nerve to the brain where itis understood as sound. If thecochlear has damaged haircells it will not be able to effec-tively change sound vibrationsinto an electrical current. Acochlear implant makes up forthe lack of intact hair cells byplacing an electrode array (withseveral electrode contacts)within the cochlear. This deliv-ers sound and speech infor-mation directly to the auditorynerve by way of small electri-cal currents.Unlike hearingaids, which make sound loud-er, a cochlear implant bypass-es the non-functional parts ofthe ear and delivers small elec-trical signals directly to theauditory nerve.

By the way: I am a womanBy the way, I am a woman, Woman of

today. Woman who knows no boundaries.I don't have fears in my mind. I am ready totake risks. I have a family but I can walkalone. I am working to earn not only breadand butter but also luxurious items.

By the way I am a womanwho is a fighter.I was con-sidered as soft hearted andloving creature who canonly take care of her fam-ily. But I never knew thatI had wings ,with them Ican fly high in the sky ofhopes.

One day I woke up andfound myself all alone, strug-gling in the battle field of life. Iwas a daughter, sister, wife andmother but I forgot the truth that first of allI am a human being who is made of fleshand blood. I am a woman who was cursedfor everything. I was cursed to take birth. Iwas cursed to be born as a woman. I washumiliated several times for being born asa woman. I was scolded. My heart was bro-ken when I started my journey. Wounds werenot healed properly and blood was shed-ding whenever I took a step forward to go.Males raped my soul and females tried tokill me when I was unborn. Everyday becomea new struggle for me.

Was this my fault to be born as a woman?

From the very first day when I was born, Iwas struggling to find a way to be secure inlife. I was not at all safe in all ages.

I was told not to go outside at nights, Iwas told to cover myself from tip to toe.

It was not my mistake to takebirth as a woman. I was not

wished to take birth. But bythe way I am born and bythe way I am a womannow.

I want to fly high, Iwant to change this world.I have that potential. I

have that power to makea better world.

I am a home maker, I ama creator. God has created me

to spread happiness. I can createlife on earth. I am the ray of hope for todayand future generation. Give me hope, giveme power to think. Don't snatch away myhappiness by your remarks. Wisdom is mybest friend and I believe in humanity. Makemy journey smooth or I will make a road ofdreams where everything is possible. Befeminity my weapon. Let me breath in freshair of freedom. I want to be a woman, awoman of today. By the way , let me dowhatever I want to do. Create a world forme which is comfortable, safe and free fromworries. Let me live peacefully and let medie safely.
