Tchaikovsky Serenade for StringsRachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of PaganiniTchaikovsky Symphony No.2 ‘Little Russian’
Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings is a perfect opening to showcase the “silvery aristocratic strings tone” from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s string section. Rachmaninov’s lushly scored Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, based on Paganini’s well-known violin theme, is an irresistible work for a full orchestra. Near Kiev at the time, Tchaikovsky wrote his ‘Little Russian’ symphony, with it’s haunting movements – an ideal piece to complete your musical evening.
