the surrounding environment. With over 32 years of experience

and expertise, W. Martin Wilson came to the Royal Oaks project

with a challenge unlike anything he’d ever faced. As the master

architectural designer for Royal Oaks, and the President of Planning

Design Collaborative, LLC (PDC); he has been responsible for

numerous distinctive residential communities throughout the

Southwest, many of which have received planning and design

awards. Yet accolades don’t help when you’re faced with designing

a tranquil community where majestic oak trees must complement,

Greek’s Tale.

FOUR SEASONSZEUS, DEMETER, PERSEPHONE & HADES

Royal Oaks was conceived as a place where Mother Nature would

be the property’s defining feature. Resting comfortably by the

sea and dotted with majestic windswept oak trees, the property

perfectly compliments the luxurious homes that reside here. Even

as the seasons change, the picturesque vistas and lush grounds of

Royal Oaks stay vibrant and serene, reminding residents that this is

a place where nature is never taken for granted.

The property’s signature home pays homage to nature’s realm by

featuring four statues that represent the ancient Greeks’ tale of

the creation of the four seasons. Master storytellers, the Greeks

weaved the changing of the seasons into the tale of a mother’s

In the story, Demeter is the Greek Goddess of Fertility and Crops.

She kept the earth green, the skies blue, and the crops healthy.

Demeter stopped caring for her crops. This caused the earth to

turn frigid and the skies black.

Zeus, Father of the Gods, demanded that Hades set Persephone

free. Hades agreed, but since Persephone had eaten food in the

underworld, she could never truly be free from his realm. It was

decided hat Persephone would divide the year between earth and

the underworld.

Demeter’s reunion and separation from her daughter is seen in

the changing of the seasons. She prepares for her daughter’s arrival

in the springtime and laments her departure in the fall. When

Persephone is separated from her mother, the earth grows dark

and cold. When mother and daughter are reunited, then warmth

and sunshine grace the earth.

The four statues of Zeus, Demeter, Persephone and Hades

symbolize Royal Oaks’ connection with nature. They remind us that

nature is a gift that must be appreciated all year round.
