Roy Lee Hester, 89, of Beaumont, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was born on June 21, 1928, to Libby Morrow Hester and Arthur Lee Hester, in Groveton, Texas.
Roy graduated from Groveton High School in 1945. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict 40th Infantry Division Japan 1951. Roy graduated from Sam Houston State University and retired from Gulf States Utilities in 1990. He loved hunting, watching sports, and especially fishing. Roy
loved fishing in his pond at “The Farm” which he enjoyed with his family and maintained until his passing.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marie Ann Hester; daughters, Lisa Michele Horton and her husband, Billy, of Nederland and Candice Marie Franklin and her husband, Ron, of Anahuac; grandchildren he cherished, Jacob Binur, Haley Binur, Lauren Horton, Lexi Solorzano, Lacy Horton, and Kevin Franklin; sister-in-law, Anna Hester; nephews, Randy Hester, Brady Hester, Bobby Hester, and Gary Schubert; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joe Bob Hester, Clayton Gene Hester, James Arthur Hester, and Eloise Schubert; and grandson, “Little Billy” Horton.
