Public information about Roxen

When to watch how an inland lake feels so should always assumed were the Lake is and what it has of streams flowing there. He lives close to Roxen. In the past there were more fishermens, but now there’s only one left. In Roxen there is mostly sportfishing, they’re fishing pike, perch and zander. If you want to angle, do it in Svartå river. (which flows into Lake Roxen). When you’re fishing on a fishingboat in the lake, mainly pikes are caught. The amount of perch has declined in the Lake, for unknown reason. The only thing we know is that the perch simply does not thrive there any longer. The perch still exists but the size is now much smaller. Östergötland’s County Board think it is because the cormorants (which is a bird) has eaten up the bigger fishes. They should definitely not die of starvation anyway. Inquires have even been made. The fishes look fine and healthy, but they never get any big.

What about the fish ? When the fish will grow and gets bigger they

eat other fish, mainly the fish nors. The nors, however, has almost disappeared and it depends on the power plant. When the nors swims upstreams Svartå river and ' play ', then they mate and lay eggs but it doesn´t work with all power plants. It is false to say there’s only one single reason causing the damage to the fishes and the Lake, but it is the only clear threat to the norsfish. There're still nors in the lake but not as much as before. The Community is trying to get back the norsfish. They are going to regulate the power plant and check the water tumbles. Of course Roxen has been very affected because of inter alia and algal bloom, but with the help of various projects of the Community, the municipality and County Administration ensure that Roxen is less affected. Roxen is very shallow, maximum 8 meters. The bottom consists of sedment. When it’s windy the waves make the bottom sediment move and it spreads out into the water. You need a machine to clean up all the sediment.

What can we do to help ?

We ordinary people can’t do so much to help, but if you live near the water and has your own sewage, sees the commune to the houses get better cleaning system. Our water in Linköping goes to waste, we must begin to think about what we washes down into the toilet. There are so many who believe that the water simply disappears and washes down a bunch of other things in the toilet for example medicines. So the people here must be informed of the damages they caus.

When someone washes his car himself with various cleaning products so

draining the water and the various funds are down in the wells and the water flows down to the Stångån and eventually even then to Roxen. Now, it is prohibited to wash their car at home on the street. Use the special car washes instead, there are usually present in petrol stations.

Window cleaning is not as environmentally friendly as if you use lemon, it

actually works! Coke is nice to drink but can also be used to wash away the rust and it is excellent to wash the toilet with it, the incredibly small and smart things that we don’t really think about. So instead of environmentally unfriendly products to clean things in everyday life, are there plenty of other solutions. All the small things you do affect Roxen positively and makes it feel better
